“Highlight of tour arranged by Three Amigos”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Three Amigos put a fantastic trip together for us from El Fuerte to Chihuahua. The entry via El Chepe train journey from the coast to the top of the Sierra Madre was the appertiser only to the feast to come. The trip into Batapilas and stay there was the highlight. Riverside Lodge was a delight, together with Shepherd's silver smelter ruins made for a fascinating visit. We felt completely safe, visit now while there's no other tourists there.

“Xmas in the Copper Canyon”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

A marvelous several days at and about Batopilas. Remote and awesome. Glorious scenery. Four of us were on the Railroad trip, got off at Creel and were driven down an uncompleted road/trail to the old mining town of Batopilas. Spent several days there, walking out to the Hidden Cathedral and along the viaduct. Wet, chilly but well worth the time there. Stayed at Juanita's Hotel. It takes the good part of a day to get there so not a easy trip. Arrangements were through CalNative

“Incredible”
Reviewed May 4, 2012

A totally genuine, non-tourist orientated town - visit the Satevo mission church.
The main road is currently closed and will not re-open until September 2012, but you an still get there in 10 hours from Creel. We met a gold prospector who uses 3 mules to load 30kg of earth and then wash the spoil in the river - no bs - altho limeys we are bilingual.

“Copper Canyon & Batopilas”
Reviewed April 18, 2012

The Copper Canyon is a MUST for travellers visiting Mexico. It is 5 times greater than the Grand Canyon and this made the Grand Canyon a midget. The scenery is very picturesque and scenic. It is not only great for geologist but for all travellers. The series of canyons at Divisadero is awesome and fantastic, a natural formation of Mother Nature.

If the views at Divisadero is not enough to quench your thirst for canyons, take a trip to Batopilas. The journey takes 5 hours (cost 240 peso one way) and it meanders through the Great Copper Canyon down to the valley. You will see the many untouched, unspoilt views, Raramuri villages. This trip is NOT to be missed. It is a town where time has forgotten for many decades until 1970 onwards. It has electricity only in 1988 and then the town blossomed from a population of 800 to 1500 today. It is peaceful, slow moving and relaxing.

The trip is worth every minute and every peso you spent on it. GO FOR IT...DO NOT GO HOME WITHOUT IT.
