My wife and I loved the pousada. It is a very charming place, with a sophisticated and delicious cuisine.
All rooms were occupied and it was a holiday, however nothing seemed full. The beach was empty and and the Pousada very quiet .
Warning: the hostel is not aimed for those who loved nightlife or kids. The target audience is couples seeking relaxation. The hostel is so good that - for the first time in our lives- the rental car was parked every day that we were there.
The beach in front of some rocks were sometimes inconvenient, but the hot water and tranquility compensate for this small annoyance.

From the moment we walked in to Pousada Da Amendoeira it was clear we had arrived at somewhere special, and that feeling didn't leave, though sadly we did after an incredible 5 days. Every detail is catered for so that you want for nothing and you always feel relaxed. It is such a laid back place, so intimate, gentle and peaceful. The staff spoil you without being obtrusive they just seem to appear when you need them. The dinners where incredible, not only was it an idyllic setting, but the kitchen is inspired and adventurous (for breakfast, lunch and dinner). We spoke very little Portuguese but we still managed a giggle with the staff and there was never any confusion, they were always patient with us. The Pousada also offers a range of trips from visiting a Manatee sanctuary, to boat trips out to the reefs for snorkling. The rooms are all individual bungalows complete with tv and dvd players, and mats and accessories for yoga. They also have a kayak, and bikes and other bits and pieces for further adventures along the pristine and often deserted beach. It really was the cherry on top of an incredible trip to Brazil. Thank you so much to all the team at Pousada Da Amendoeira.

We recently returned to the US from our second visit to Pousada da Amendoeira (we first learned about the P da A on the excellent website: Hidden Pousadas). P da A is a place so special that I do not really want to write a review, but the owners are so special that I feel obliged to reveal our secret. If you are looking for total relaxation in simple, yet elegant cabanas, with food that is perfect, and staff who are gracious in the extreme, this place is for you. Brazil is no longer inexpensive (even for Brazilians, but especially for those with US dollars), but the P da A price includes half board and we think it is a real bargain, considering the quality. The beach is extensive and expansive at low tide--you can walk a long way along the beach, encountering a few other travelers and fishermen. The water offshore is not crystal clear but is warm and clean and just fine for a dip. Bikes are available for rides into nearby villages, should you have the will power to raise yourself off the beautiful deck chairs.
Finally, the owners, Jessy and Tsahi, are what makes and keeps this place so special. They have excellent taste in food and decor, they treat their staff with great respect, and they treat guests like family. Their work is clearly a labor of love.
We will be returning for years to come.

Room Tip: All are good. Of course we favor the ones nearer to the beach.

I have stayed at the Pousada da Amendoeira three times over the past two years. I have traveled a lot...Thailand, Vietnam, all over the Mediterranean Coast...this is such a gem of a place that makes me go back at least once a year. Or at least at any chance to scape the madness of NYC.

The food is the best you can think of. Seriously, these kids know what they are doing. Hands down to ANY top restaurant you've been to. I have tried pretty much every single item on their menu and they always find a way to surprise you...the food just gets better and better, don't know how they can do it.

Their staff is the nicest and warmest people you can think of. Always smiling and ready to serve you, when they ask how you are doing, they actually mean it, they really wanna know if everything is ok and they will do everything they can to make sure you have a lovely time.

If you chat to other guests, people will normally say things like "this is my fourth visit", "that's my third summer here", "we've been coming here for five years now". After your first time there, you will understand why.

We stayed at the Pousada da Amendoeira for just over a week and spent the whole timing pinching ourselves at our good fortune at having found one of the best places we have ever stayed in all our round-the-world travels (and the other half kicking ourselves for not being able to stay a month).
From the beach, accommodation, food, to the scenery, in-house massages, fellow guests and the hospitality of owner Jessie we couldn't fault anything. If you are looking for a relaxing, revitalising holiday in a small, boutique style setting then do not miss out! We will definitely be back.
