Description: Giltraps Pub in Kinnitty, County Offaly, Ireland, is a landmark building in the centre of the picturesque village at the foothills of the Slieve Bloom mountains in the Irish midlands. Dating back to the seventeenth century when it was originally a hotel, Giltraps Pub is now a family run operation managed by the Clendennen family. Whether you're looking for an open fire after a days hiking or walking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, attending a wedding at Kinnitty Castle Hotel, want to have the 'craic' or chat about GAA with the locals or you're simply looking for the 'perfect' pint of Guinness, then Giltraps is one of the best pubs / bars in the area to chose from. Giltraps has been awarded a number of accolades including Black & White Scotch Whisky Heritage Pub of the Year, James Joyce Pub of the Year Award and the highest recognition (5 stars) in Pub Spy Review by the Sunday World newspaper. If you are looking for accommodation in Kinnitty, whether you are attending a wedding in the nearby Kinnitty Castle or looking to explore to picturesque countryside, we also have Giltraps Townhouse & Glamping Accommodation located adjacent to Giltraps Pub which offers a range of deluxe ensuite rooms and glamping accomodation to suit everybody's needs.

Quiet, cosy and really friendly. This is the second time in the last few months that we have been to Giltraps when we were staying in the local area and it won’t be the last. It reminds me of the line in the “Hotel California”, “you can check out any time you like but you can never leave”. And that sums up Giltraps.

I love the place for the hospitality, friendly (but not too intrusive) staff but most of all the locals that frequent the establishment. If you are knocking around the area, don’t drive by, stop and spend an hour there, you won’t regret it. But if you’re like me, that hour can turn into four in the blink of an eye.

“stranded walkers!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2014

We stranded in this pub in january and we had a few pints of Guiness! We had a very good time there, have met some interesting people, got a full explaination of the game 'Hurling'! Everyone who drives through Kinnity, must stop there! It's the best pub in town! ;-)
But please do not talk loud when there is a soccer game on television! :-)

“Pre Wedding family buffet & drinks 26th December 2013”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

We booked the Giltraps back in May for a family meal the day before a big family wedding in kinnitty. The owners were extremely helpful in organising the details for us. On arrival there was a great atmosphere in the pub and a lovely welcome! The food was amazing and the drinks were flowing! We would highly recommend the pub, its perfect for a private buffet for a large group! Thank you for everything John and the rest of the team!

“Great pub to ring in the new year”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

We rang in 2014 in Giltraps while staying in the area. Giltraps pub has a lovely atmosphere , clean toilets & family run. The bar staff were very friendly & welcoming serving a great pint of 'the black stuff' irish coffees, cocktails & even served sandwiches & hot snacks to celebrate the ringing in of the new year.
