“Not quite a five...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013

We ate here a few times during our stay in Ziploite. The food was good - sometimes very good and others ok. The location is right on the beach and as there was a tropical storm the waves were very close! The service was somewhat indifferent at times which is why I didn't give a 5.

“Great food, Nice view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

Alquimista is located on a little stretch of beach at the far west end of Zipolite. The food was excellent (we really liked the fish sandwich and also the rare tuna with tapenade) the service was very good and the location is beautiful. The staff lights candles all throughout the Palapa and lamps out on the rocks on the beach. Plenty of bang for your buck and a solid bet that is even open (and busy) in low season when everything else is closed.

“outstanding experience close to the crashing waves”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

The Alquimista is an upscale (for Zipolite) hotel with a unique restaurant right on the beach at the Roca Blanca end of Zipolite. Tables in the sand lit by candles create a wonderful atmosphere. I ordered the tuna "medio-rojo" (medium rare) and was delighted with a very generous serving of absolutley fresh tuna (atun) in a balsamic soy sauce with sundried tomatoes. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. At lunch, I had a nice cesar salad with ahi tuna tostadas. They bring you complimentary tostadas (chips) with a bowl of pice de gallo and bowl of hot homemade salsa, giving you something to much on while they prepare your main course. They also make pizzas at night. Full bar, good selection of spirits and beers, nice nternational waitstaff. Look at the photos someone uploaded. An amazing experience.

“What a place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Marcello and crew have a great thing going. I would say some of the best food on the coast.
Great spot for an evening drink and dinner. You are sitting right on the west end of Playa Zipolite.
Nudity is present on this side of the beach if it bothers you.
