Martins Cottages
Reviewed February 8, 2014

An amazing 3 nights at Martins Cottages booked as wedding accomodation for my immediate family for my wedding in January. Having searched high & low for somewhere big and nice enough for everyone it turned out to be just perfect....I was so jealous I could not stay there myself!
It is by far the nicest accomodation in the Chichester/surrounding area, so very reasonably priced too!
Gillie (the owner) is so lovely and accomodating, she looks after the cottages so well, the decor is classic, tasteful and kept very clean and well maintained. Even the gardens (which must be hard in all the recent wind and rain!!)
I cannot recommed Martins Cottages enough for everyone, it will definately be somewhere we return to in the future.... Please do not change a thing, we loved it!

This is the third time we have, as a family, booked both cottages. They are really beautiful. Very tastefully decorated and furnished in muted colours with a mix of modern and French cottage style. The cottages can accommodate 8 people when the interconnecting door is open. They are cosy, clean and warm and have everything you need to enjoy yourself. Perfect for my husband and I and our extended family. With two lounges and two kitchens you have plenty of choice in how to entertain yourselves. The luxury of four bathrooms mean that everyone can get ready in a relaxed way. Gillie, the owner is always very welcoming.

The peace and tranquility of the surroundings make for a very relaxing holiday. There are two fields in front of the cottages which provided plenty of space to walk our two small dogs in early morning or late evening. A walk around 'the block' to Birdham Pool was very enjoyable and quiet in the evening. West Wittering beach, nearby, is always our favourite beach to go for a long walk.

There are some nice places to eat around the area. Our best find this year was The Gribble at Oving to the east of Chichester. Well worth a visit.

we rented both cottages, connected by the best connecting door ever - hotels: take a lesson! - for a family gathering of eight.
Two bed (one double-double, one king) / two bath (one bath one shower) each, fully equipped kitchen, quality furnishings, more TVs than one needs, quality showers, quality sheets and towels.
Great welcome by Gilly, who obviously has put a lot of thought into this project.
Lovely grounds, well located for the beach and good dining.

Spotlessly clean; beautifully furnished; very comfortable and well stocked. Foxglove Cottage is perfect! The owner was very helpful whenever I contacted her. The holiday was wonderful and I hope to go back.

These two cottages are a real find so I'm almost loath to share them with the world...

We are a group of friends who meet up twice a year for a retreat and have been looking for somewhere we peaceful and inspiring for over 3 years. Now we've found it.

We had both cottages, which can be opened up by an adjoining door to form a much larger living space. I was a bit concerned that the lounge area was quite narrow but the photos online really don't do any of the rooms justice. The kitchens are small (but who goes away to cook) otherwise there was plenty of space and the master bedrooms are vast.

The cottages are beautifully designed and immaculately but practically finished and with underfloor heating were snug and warm even in early March. With the large french window they were also light and on a sunny summer it must be wonderful to open up the doors and let the meadow in. It's a wonderfully peaceful setting and Gillie makes you really welcome.

We went as a retreat so didn't stray far we did take a wander along the lane to the marina. We look forward to going back later in the year.

These 2 cottages run by Gillie, have been beautifully decorated and have everything you need including the little things that are often missing, like salt and pepper, washing up liquid, loo roll, washing powder etc. The furnishings are very stylish - a mix of modern and antique, and all very tastefully done. There are TV's in all the rooms, wi-fi, DVD player, dish washer and all home comforts. These are 5 star cottages, well looked after and spotlessly clean.

The real beauty is the location. Looking out across quiet fields, with fabulous walks straight from the door down to Birdham Pool, the Marina and on to the sea at West Wittering. There are many good restaurants within 10 minutes drive, including The Samphire at West Wittering where we had a fabulous meal (do book in advance - it is a tiny restaurant)!

A bracing walk around East Head in the middle of a very cold winter is not for the faint hearted, but coming back to Foxglove Cottage with its under floor heating and cosy living room, makes it all worth while. You can't go wrong with a break at Martins Cottages.

Baytree Cottage was a quiet oasis away from the rat race of London. We were warmly welcomed on a wintery day by Gilly who has done a fantastic job of decorating the cottage and making sure that you have all of the home comforts with the all important super comfy, super king sized bed!
There are some great walks from the cottage through the marina, along the estuary (with a pit stop at the pub at Dell Quey…) and up into Fishborne or Chichester. Chichester cathedral is well worth a visit after it's restoration 'facelift'.
