We spent six nights at this wonderful B and B and are ready to go back next year. Christine is a perfect hostess and an excellent cook. Her breakfasts are legendary and she is great company. All her guests love her. And we had such fun in the mornings, chatting with people from different parts of the country over coffee. This is how life should be. Relaxed, good-hunoured and learning lots from each other. Other reviews have made the point about the convenient location, the beautiful coutryside, the closeness to places of interest, the comfortable rooms all of which we echo but we want to stress the companionship, the friendship, the sheer joy of company that we found there. Not since the The Canterbury Tales has there been such a wonderful characters, not since Harry Bailey, has there been such a skilled and adept host as Christine.

Stayed at the Old Manse on a short break exploring Northumberland. It is very welcoming and extremely comfortable. it is surrounded by stunning country side and close to Alnwick, Chillingham, Bamborough and Lindisfarne Island. The Garden room is very spacious and a nice touch with a private sitting room. There is nothing left to chance. everything you could need is there. Bed very large and comfortable, we both slept very soundly. The breakfast could not be bettered. A lovely B and B. Would certainly stay again.

Just spent four nights at this wonderful retreat. Ideally located for various activities. The accommodation is superb, we stayed in the Garden room, with views of the hills on oneside of the bedroom and terrace on other side, with a variety of wild birds constantly feeding off the bird trays. A nice warm cosy sitting room adjoins the bedroom with an light and airy en-suite bath and shower. Everything you need is provided by hostess Christine. The breakfast was fantastic with an extensive menu, all freshly cooked. The B & B runs very efficiently wiith Christine at the helm, she obviously knows the trade well, assisted admirably by the "iron man" Tony and the two character gun dogs. We were sorry to leave, especially as the weather was improving.

Room Tip: The garden room is spacious, and very well equipped. Has an enormous bed, private garden entrance. This room would suit disabled visitors - drive right up to the bed room door.

Stayed at the old manse for a wedding taking place at Chillingham Castle. The setting and location was perfect for what we needed. The room was delightful and very cosy and had tea/coffee facilities, along with every toiletry you could possibly need!! We stayed in the 4 poster bedroom which had beautiful views. The breakfast couldnt have been better, so much to choose from. Cereals, fruit, yoghurts, toast and of course the full English cooked breakfast! Christine and her husband were the perfect hosts and helped us with some directions of the local shops etc. Cannot fault the old manse at all and was very happy overall. Thanks Christine!

First class accommodation and breakfast. Christine and Tony really made us feel very welcome. The Old Manse certainly deserves its awards. It is a beautirful old, impeccably maintained house. Certainly the best B and B we have ever stayed at in the UK. The gardens are lovely and it is a joy to watch the birds over breakfast in the lovely conservatory.

A lot of extra touches are provided: top quality toilteries, cut glassware in the rooms, a fridge, good selection of hot drinks - and lovely home-made cake to return to each afternoon.

Very convenient for all the tourist attractions in Northumberland: Holy Island, Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle - all are within easy reach.

We certainly hope to be able to visit again and can highly recommed the Old Manse.

Room Tip: Sorry - ticked "swimming pool by mistake". There isn't one, but no means to un-tick!
