“Food quality slipping”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

I've eaten here a few times, and recently dropped in for lunch. I ordered the salmon fishcakes from the Specials board and had to wait more than 30 minutes though it wasn't busy. When they came I thought they were dry and lacked taste. I am fairly sure they had been fried in a lot of oil. The accompanying salad consisted of some very sad looking lettuce leaves. Not what you expect from a place that used to have a great reputation under previous management

“We really enjoyed this”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

We visited this nearby pub on a whim on a mid-week night. We got there early and it was quiet but picked up a little; not sure why it wasn’t packed. We had a meal each and they were tremendous - I had the Crackly pork and it was vast and succulent - quite excellent. Wash anything down with a pint of Wadworth’s 6X and you'll be happy!

Delightful staff, unhurried (both them and us!) and a delightful meal out and good value - recommended.

“Great pub with great potential.”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

Beautiful pub in a beautiful location. Ordered two "bloomers" from very pleasant young man at the bar. And waited........ There were only 4 tables eating but the food took 40 minutes to arrive. Perfectly adequate pub grub and reasonable prices but they could do with getting a little more on top of things. Think that they are a new team and hopefully in time will get everything right. Would definitely return if in the area.

“lovely dont miss this pub”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

what a lovely pub this is it has everything, lovely looking, lovely location, great food, camping and last but not at all least great family that own and run it.
we found this little gem down the road from where we normally haunt when we come to wiltshire and we will be back again we mostley have been going the barge or red lion whin in wiltshire but were getting bored with the high prices for not much back. now we have a new favourite
we wanted a pub lunch and it was great i had a veggie option and was surprised as i was spoilt for choice when i asked, i went for the fennel nut roast with cranbury gravy, lovely.
my boyfriend had fish and chips and his fish was massive and the chips where spot on, service was fantastic just right and very friendly.
we enjoyed the food and beer and atmosphere at this lovely little pub so much we stayed the night.
the showers and wash rooms for campers are very well appionted and priced below nearer pubs at a more reasonable level. great place dont miss out!

“Excellent meal & service”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

Honest, decent country pub with good atmosphere and good food. Typical "pub grub", but well presented and reasonably priced.
