“Classic trattoria - recommended by locals”
Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

Gorgeous day to sit outside on the Terrazza in the sunshine. Handmade noodles and great array of antipasti selections made for a tasty lunch. Wine list has some great value wines - particularly the whites. Gentle service and piccolo inglese - always helpful!

“A piemontese institution”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

A place not to miss if you are in Barbaresco, the food is outstanding typical Piemontese cuisine. Delicious tajarin, agnolotti, rabbit and much more. Great wine selection and service too.
A must for any food and wine lover, can't wait to go back.

“Nice food of Piemonte”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

Nice place at Barbaresco with honest and local dishes like Vitello Tonnato (very good), and other nice dishes, local wine and some Barolos to choose from. If you have a chance go during the truffle season and enjoy...Nice views too...

“Lovely spot in the heart of Piedmont”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

We stayed a few nights in Neive, a little village about three kilometres from Barbaresco, and spent one of our days walking from Neive to Barbaresco and back, along a scenic walking path (beautiful views of vineyards and little medieval villages). We arrived at Trattoria Antica Torre around noon, and were seated right away (the restaurant was empty upon our arrival, but filled up almost immediately). The restaurant itself is very lovely--although not quite what we were expecting since it calls itself a trattoria (I wished I wasn't wearing shorts and running shoes, but whatever). We ordered the antipasto platter, the ravioli with butter and sage, the tajarin with meat sauce, and the rabbit to share, as well as a bottle of Arneis (a really lovely, refreshing white--much needed on such a ridiculously hot day). The antipasto platter had some hits and some misses. It was our first time trying carne cruda (raw hamburger, essentially, with olive oil, salt and black pepper), and we absolutely loved it. The porcini mushroom salad was nice, although nothing special, as was the thinly sliced roast veal, served cold, with tuna sauce (this is one of those strange regional specialties I don't think I quite came around to). Peppers filled with tuna were average at best. The pastas were both excellent. The ravioli with butter and sage was maybe the best pasta I ate in Italy, in fact, and is a definite must. Our rabbit was good, but not incredible, considering the price. Still, we were very happy with our lunch, and I would recommend this spot to anyone making the trip to Barbaresco.

“Pleasant food typical of the region”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

We enjoyed the food, wine and service here. Good but not stunning renditions of local dishes - have tasted better Vitello Tonnato but the fowl salad was very good as was the tajrin and the pannacotta. Excellent wine recommendation from the busy waiter - there was one large table and a number of walk ins.
It does what it does very well.
