The best part about this lodge is that it is in the middle of a tropical rain forest. The rooms were on the rustic side, rather like wood cabins, and our room didn't have a bathroom. We used one of those group shower rooms and there was even a bathtub for use. The views around the lodge are incredible. We did a guided walk and got a close up look at the forest. We chose not to eat at the lodge as I have never had a good buffet meal no matter what the price, but drove into a nearby town-30 minutes away-for dinner at a restaurant connected to a hotel. We enjoyed riding on the Flying Fox, a contraption that was once used to carry luggage up the mountain. You get rigged up with harnesses and take a short ride down a cable, high over ground. The staff at the lodge were all very nice, including the gardner/trail guide who also showed us the minature bees and showing me a very small jar of their honey which took a year for them to make-he extracted it with a syringe. He had honey from Italian bees for sale in the gift shop as well. He also came and removed a huge spider from our room. The whole area is rather buggy being in a rain forest and all. Other than our trip to Byron Bay, I think this area was one of the highlights of our trip to Australia.

We spent 3 nights at Binna Burra lodge and we loved it! We wish we would have spent more time there than in the Blue Mountains. It's a great place to be, especially if you're really into hiking. It was fairly secluded, had lots of great hiking trails of all different lengths just steps away from your cabin, and breathtaking views. Lamington National Park itself is a great place to see subtropical rainforest and birds (the forest is alive with birdsong), along with pademelons (small kangaroo-like marsupials for those out of the country), snakes, and skinks.
Our cabin (and we splurged for one with its own bathroom) was right on the end and overlooking the valley. It had two glass walls for lots of great views and was very comfortable if small. Because we were there for several days, we signed up for the meal plan. The food was fairly good. Lots of quantity but a bit repetitive if you're vegetarian, which we are. But it's all served in a glass-walled dining hall with gorgeous views.
Every day had a different guided walk or activity scheduled and there was entertainment in the evenings. When we were there they had a film one night, bush poetry recitals the next, and a didgeridu player the third.
Admittedly, it's a bit pricey to stay there, but comparable to O'Reilly's, the other major accommodation alternative inside the park. However the staff was great (one of the gardeners went out of his way to make sure we saw the local colony of Australia's smallest, stingless bee, which he proudly looked after and which we would have completely missed otherwise) and the lodge had a very eco-friendly bent, which was right up our alley.
The park is beautiful and I hope we can get back there someday.
