Binna Burra is a lovely old-fashioned, mountain lodge. Very peaceful in beautiful surroundings. No decisions about what to eat - just turn up for breakfast and dinner to a generous portion of home style cooking. Don't bother going if you want commercialized gimmicks - just back to nature outdoor fun.

Room Tip: Get a room with it's own bathroom, particularly in Winter!

Thank you for your honest review Cathy. You summed up the Lodge. We are definately not a commercialised resort, which is what makes us different. Getting back to nature is what we are all about. Most people come here to enjoy some peace and quiet, and to enjoy Lamington National Park. Our food is traditional home-cooked and plentiful - just what most people crave after a hike in the rainforest. We look forward to seeing you again.

Thank you for your wonderful review on Binna Burra. It's so nice to hear that you plan on coming back and that you are already a repeat guest. Binna Burra is a comfortable and relaxing place in the gateway of Lamington National Park, and provides an escape from City life, yet we're so close to Brisbane. It's true that our staff are very friendly. It makes visiting us a breeze! We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

I enjoyed 6 days at Binna Burra last month, and had a wonderful time! The staff were ever helpful, from the front of house and catering teams, to the activity guides, grounds staff, and hotel crew. Well done!!
Guests are made to feel like friends, whilst maintaining professional standards from the staff. Not an easy task.
Wonderful environment, and the flexibility to do as much or as little as you wish. Love the communal dining, with wonderful and plentiful food!!
Bravo!!!
Stephanie

Room Tip: Casuarina rooms have least stairs to the lodge! But the ensuites are worth the steps!!

Thank you for your wonderful feedback Stephanie. I am pleased you stayed for 6 nights - it gave you ample time to relax and enjoy Binna Burra, the Sky Lodges, and Lamington National Park. We often get very good feedback about how friendly our staff is. I have to agree! As you say, they make you feel more like friends and family. Binna Burra's communal Dining odur buffet style of dining means that after a long walk, you can eat as much as you like (especially the homemade desserts!). We hope to see you again at Binna Burra soon.

We have stayed at the Sky lodges a twice (once before they were advertised as open and again in late 2012). The sky lodges are stunning. Chunky timber doors and features with a beautiful large slate-look bathroom and cosy, comfortable furniture give the rooms a feeling of warmth and make you feel relaxed as soon as you enter them.
There are breathtaking vistas from every window, be it the window at eye level in the bath (a clever feature) or the floor to ceiling windows in the bedrooms. You can really appreciate that these lodges were architect designed with the surrounding landscape in mind.
I would say the lodges have well equipped kitchens, given the target market for this type of accommodation. The verandahs are also generously sized with quality outdoor furniture.
One thing I particularly like is the privacy. You are a short stroll from the main lodge buildings, however you cannot see the lodge or other rooms from your private sky lodge.
The first time we stayed, we had dinner at the main lodge (buffet style). An excellent value three course meal with choice of mains was provided. The food was of great quality and had a delightful home-cooked feel that is often lacking in this type of accommodation. The clifftop dining room itself had lovely views and a warm, inviting atmosphere. If you are around in the late afternoon, it's really nice to sit back with a glass of wine and watch the clouds funnel through the valley behind the dining room.
I have only one complaint regarding my stays at the sky lodges. The second time we stayed, we were unaware that the main lodge had been booked for a wedding. After arriving at 5pm, we were told there would not be a dinner buffet. Being late and with limited food options, we chose to eat at the teahouse and waited 1 hour 15 mins for 2 pizzas- which were incorrect when they did come. Obviously, the staff could not handle such a large amount of orders due to the wedding.
That said, we will stay at the Sky lodges again and recommend them to any other guests wanting a private, comfortable weekend getaway. Just call ahead to check if there's a wedding on and if so, maybe bring some food to cook.

Room Tip: There are four blocks of lodges- block one is closest to the main lodge. The rooms in blocks 3 and 4 have the nicest views.

Hi, Phoebe C, and thank you for taking the time to share your experience staying in our beautiful Sky Lodges. We are certainly delighted with these amazing rooms, and their view back over the valleys are really stunning. I particularly enjoy the light that shines across the trees and hills just after sunrise.

Also, thank you for your comments regarding difficulties with dinner arrangements on the first night of your stay during the wedding in December. With such feedback we are able to improve and to offer our guests an even better experience.

As you saw, we do host weddings and Binna Burra is an exceptional location for a truly memorable wedding. Unfortunately, we did not communicate to you prior to your arrival that we had the Tea House open for guests to utilize instead of the Lodge dining room. For this I apologize.

I am very pleased to advised that we have learned from the delays that you experienced and have just this month hosted a wedding for 160 guests, and our alternate arrangements at the Tea House went very, very smoothly and the guests enjoyed great food and great service in a wonderful location.

I can assure you that our Binna Burra family is committed to providing every guest with an outstanding experience every time. So, please come up and see us again soon, even if just for a day trip.

Regards,
Binna Burra Mountain Lodge

I wouldn't recommend eating at the lodge, unless you like canteen food.
The restaurant is soooo pretty with amazing views, but they let themselves down with EXPENSIVE bad quality food, but a good place for a coffee/tea.
Also if your gluten free you HAVE to ask the chef to cook something for you prior to dinner as all us GF people are aware of, you cant get any GF food from canteens, its all deep fried fish and chips, pastas, breads, pies, and if your lucky a tray of week old, prodded salad leaves.
On the upside we did camp there for a few nights for Christmas, the campsite is pretty nice fair play for a good price, also they have an attendant going around keeping it all in check.

Hi. Thank you for your positive comments about the campsite. We ensure that the campground is cleaned and amenities block serviced every day, even on public holidays.

I'm not really sure how to respond to your food comments. I was certainly taken aback by the throw-away remark about "week old, prodded salad leaves". I will simply say that none of our salads consist of week old leaves. I hope that comment was just a generalization about places you refer to as canteens. We certainly sell burgers, pastas, fish and chips on our lunch menu because that is what most people are looking for. But we also provide alternatives and if someone asks for something special, we try and help.

If you read our website, other comments and responses, you will see that we run a traditional mountain lodge dining room and we run a teahouse. Both enjoy spectacular views. We always cater for GF dietary requirements and we try our best to cater for other special requirements as well.

I suggest you read back to the post from Kev W last October where he said "We required a special diet and were pleasantly surprised at how well our needs were met. This is in contrast to some hotels we have stayed".
