“Summertime in the Rockies”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2010

We just got back from 2 weeks in Avon Colorado. We loved our time there. The location is perfect for exploring the Rockies. It's just a short drive to Beaver Creek, Vail, and a bike's ride to Edwards. We had a time share condo at the Sheraton Mountain Vista which we loved. We did allot of trout fishing, hiking and biking. For all of our travels to find the perfect fishing spot, it turned out that we caught the most trout from Nottingham Lake right in the center of Avon. We enjoyed several days at Sylvan Lake State Park, tho the fishing wasn't so good, the beauty of this area brought us back again and again.. Our grandkids visited us ( ages 4 and 5) and what they loved most was the bungee jumping in Beaver Creek. We love our summer trips to Colorado tho next year we'll go earlier. Two of the events we look forward to had ended for the season.. the Tuesday evening concerts at the Betty Ford outdoor theatre and the weekly rodeos..

“Lots of activities for everyone - all ages”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2009

We've been in this area in the past during the winter months to enjoy the downhill skiing, but we visited this past summer in August with two little ones - 3 and 1. We were pleasantly surprised to find both outdoor activities and indoor activities that worked for all of us. We spent a lot of time hiking the local trails, checking out Beaver Creek Village and the local parks - they have several really nice and interesting playgrounds between Avon and Vail. One of our highlights was the Family Night up at Beaver Creek Village at the Westin. They had gondola rides, snowcones, smore's, pony rides and more - all free, which happens once a week and I believe is sponsored by the hotel. My kids had a blast and we didn't have any problems filling up our 10 days with fun stuff to do. We even checked out the local library for their craft day.

“Great Fall Vacation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2009

My husband and two young boys (3 and 1) took our fall trip to Avon, CO this year. What a beautiful place to spend the fall days. Avon is centrally located near many activities. If your family enjoys hiking, beautiful scenery and cute shops this is perfect for you! Many free things to do for those on a budget. The only thing we found difficult that was that we were there during their off peak season so resteraunts and shops closed a lot earlier than we would have liked. Overall, great trip!
