I've previously written a positive review of Northside, but can't do the same now. A few months ago, we ate at the burger side of the restaurant known as "Benderz." It was very good, particularly the cottage fries. The service - if you can ordering and paying at the cashier and then getting your own order when called service - was surly. But we liked the food and the burgers are cheap.
But when we went back last week, we were sorely disappointed. The kitchen is woefully understaffed - the burger flipping cooks also double as cashiers and that means hassled people and screwed up orders.
The tables looked like they hadn't been bussed in hours. I had to clean our own spot and go hunting for full bottles of condiments.
The fries were as delicious as before, but the burgers no. Needless to say, the ahi tuna sandwich ($10!!) had a tiny piece of tuna on it and is too thick to enjoy as a sandwich.
We were pretty excited when Northside opened, but the model of minimal service is fraying and the quality is diminishing while prices are rising. Might as well go to Cafe 163 or Golden Eagle in Beaver Creek and have great service, yummy food for a little more (but much better quality and larger portions).
One thing to note, their donuts, pastries and coffee are still fabulous, so if you're picking up something to go, it's a great option. No one has donuts like those in the high country! And if there are still some left in the afternoon, you can get three for one and they are still delicious.
