This could have been a great stay, but for over $150/nt you don't expect the room to smell like urine. Just the facts. We checked into our room the week of new years. Entering the room, everything seemed fine. But, after turning on the heat, a stong disagreeable odor was released into the room. My family described it as stale urine. I called the hotel office and was told that there were no alternate rooms. We turned off the heat and opened the window for the night. I was disappointed that the hotel wasn't more responsive to the problem. They didn't offer to send anyone up to check out the smell, and told us they couldn't move us to another room.

The breakfast and hot tub were nice, but I would not recommend this hotel based on the odor (I think it was room 221), and the lack of responsiveness to the situation. Avoid this hotel.

The Comfort Inn Vail/Beaver Creek underwent a renovation of the entire property this past year which was completed in 12/08. Guest rooms feature new linens, drapes, carpeting, furniture, fixtures and mattresses! We have a limited number of rooms available on the first floor only for folks with pets now and those rooms are deodorized and cleaned immediately following the guest's departure. New carpet has been installed throughout the property. The hotel lobby features new furniture, fixtures, carpet and front desk. We are now in great shape and with the completion of our renovation, any "odor" problems have been eliminated.

My GF and I went on our first ski trip together and decided to make the Comfort Inn home for 4 days. It was a great choice for location, price, amenities, and overall value. The bus shuttle to the Gondola express to Beaver Creek is right outside the hotel and runs regularly and you never have to wait more then 10 mins. We made use of the breakfast (hardboiled eggs, bagels, muffins, waffle machine, juices, fruits, and cereal) everymorning. The hot-tub was great and kept clean. Our hotel room was spacious with two queen beds and cleaned well daily. Best of all, i booked it at the vail valley partneship website [--] which was about $50 less then the going rate if you book directly from comfort inn or orbtiz, priceline etc. The snowboarding was excellent at BC and we had a fantastic time.

- The hotel promises free wi-fi, but it was broken, and the hotel was not interested in fixing it.
- The hotel claims to provide continental breakfast until 9 a.m., but by 8 a.m. many of the breakfast items were gone and not replenished.
- The hotel claims to conserve water by not changing all towels every day, but it does change all the towels every day.
- Room carpet was badly stained.
- Room was very noisy with hotel ventilation system; difficult to sleep.
- Hotel did not provide soap and other promised amenities on a regular basis. Did not leave used soap, so we had to call the front desk in order to take a shower. Front desk personnel were unconcerned.
- At checkout, desk clerk asked if everything was okay. I said, "No." Desk clerk had no interest in what was not okay.
- The hotel charged more than estimated.

The Comfort Inn at the base of the mountain at Beaver Creek is a decent hotel, perfect for skiiers on a budget. Rooms are basic, but some have great mountain views. Only complaint is that the hot tub is located outside. Hotel is in the town of Avon, where there are plenty of restaurants/bars. Free shuttle picks you up at the front of the hotel, takes you up the mountain to B.C. base village. There's also a Vail shuttle, but we drove and paid to park in order to get there quicker.

Overall, this hotel was the best way I could find to stay in Beaver Creek on a budget. If you're looking for luxury slopeside, this ain't the ticket.

My husband and I and our two dogs stayed at this hotel over July 4 weekend for one night (it is one of the few hotels in the area that allows pets without exorbitant fees). The night we got there, the hotel had just finished a week of outside pressure washing, so it wasn't very aesthetically pleasing and peels of paint were laying all over the ground around the hotel.

The hotel room was standard, with two beds and a table and chairs with stains on the cushions. The bathroom amenities and towels were also standard--white and medium in size and fluffiness. The beds were comfortable enough. We read online that the place was recently remodeled. If that is the case, it has one of the worst jobs I have ever seen--the bathroom tiles were tile against tile in some parts with no grout between them; the carpet was fraying in long "strings' where it abutted the tiled bathroom. And the shower surround had mold and some kind of sealant visual and in a leaky line where the shower and tub met.

We were happy to see a coffeemaker in the room. The morning continental breakfast is complimentary but all carbs.

If you need a place to crash for the night, this hotel is adequate. But if you are looking for "comfort" as the name says, pay the extra money and stay in one of the four-star places in Beaver Creek.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a more economical hotel around Beaver Creek. The room was nice, there was a great heated pool/hot tub, and a convenient washer/dryer. Plus having the free breakfast was an additional savings! It even had a good selection for a continental breakfast. The room was cleaned very well every day. I have no complaints toward this hotel.

Management was also very helpful. We had weather issues with our trip and the hotel management was very easy to work with.

Another advantage was the location. We were able to walk to dinner every night of our stay, I would say about a block from the hotel there were at least 4 restaurants. Plus, the public parking to the ski resort was only a small drive away, maybe 5 minutes.

All in all, we were very satisfied with our stay at this Comfort Inn.
