A warm welcome, an excellent view from the rooms and terraces onto the village and bay, clean basic but spacious rooms. Breakfast was very varied and prepared and brought to your table with heart! Only minor point was the lack of hot water in the bathroom but that could be temporary.

We stayed in this wonderful hotel at the beginning of April 2012. Beautiful view from the room and balcony, individual access service, great breakfast, clean rooms, a traditional village environment of Crete. Highly recommended.

Visited Kaliviani with my girlfriend in June 2011 while doing a very individualistic trip through crete. Great Hotel, great food (!) and excellent atmosphere for people who want to shut down from all urban hectic. You get rural crete in essence! Enjoy the awesome view from the balconies, take a hike (or a boat, if you have to :) to the most beautiful beach of crete (Balos) and enjoy life. For us it was an excellent waypoint to do day trips, so we stayed for 3 days before continuing south.

I stayed at the Kaliviani Traditional Rooms Hotel in the middle of October with a friend.

I must say it was our favourite part of the trip to Crete!

The place is simply stunning.
It’s an oasis of peace and quiet (well, at least in October!) our room was spotless and very cosy with an amazing view over the port from our balcony.

The staff were friendly and made us feel like home.

Giannis’s mum is simply a wonderful lady who makes the best breakfasts ever!!! (we felt like we were part of her family!).
We will never forget her hospitable welcome and kindness which was absolutely overwhelming!

Our stay at this hotel was everything what we could wish for. Being waken up by roosters, watching beautiful sunsets and sunrises from our balcony or simply observing local villagers living their simple life was a fresh breath from our daily routines in tiring London.

The hotel is a great base for trips to Balos and Gramvousa as well as Falasarna and Elafonisos Beach.

We didn’t have a car, but we found it quite easy to relocate - ordering a cab and getting to Kissamos was pretty straightforward (cost: 10 Euro).
If you wish to get to Falasarna, it’s a nice walk through the village (20 min walk) to the nearest village - Agios Georgios where you can simply stop a bus going to Falasarna by waving in the road.

Trip to Elafonisos Beach was also quite easy: just get a cab to Kissamos and then jump on a bus.
Same applies to a boat trip to Balos Beach + Garmvousa Island (the trip was stunning, worth going by boat instead of driving there – well... putting up with tourists at the end of the day, but hiking up Gramvousa Island was unforgettable!).

We didn’t have a chance to enjoy any live music at Kaliviani Traditional Rooms, but I’m sure the GartenBar must be amazing from what I’ve read on this website (we were staying there out of the summer season).

There’s a lovely Greek tavern just round the corner – Grambousa Restaurant serving the best Greek food ever! You definitely have to go and check it out.
Beautiful setting and delicious food.
If I’m ever back in Kaliviani – Traditional Rooms Hotel is going to be my definite choice!
I would highly recommend it to anyone stopping here, let’s face it – there’s no way you can find a better place in here for such a good price with such a great service!

Aleksandra

Room Tip: Make sure you wake up for breakfast - heaven on earth!
