“Food delicious, staff very welcoming..ignore the decor!”
Reviewed May 11, 2011

We arrived late on the weekend of the Royal wedding, we were a group of 10 including 3 young children. We couldn't have asked for a better welcoming. The food was lovely, great portion sizes, you could really tell that the food was homemade...delicious. The landlord was very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. It is obvious that the hotel is in need of a refurb inside but if you can forgive them for that then the Feathers is well worth a visit. We will definitely be visiting again (we only wished we lived nearer!).

We ate at the Feathers last year and I said I would never go back! However we had heard that the pub was under new management and decided to give the place a 2nd chance.

It is a million times better, we ate at the pub on Saturday night and it was faultless! The menu offered a variety of good pub food. I had the T-Bone steak and it was superb, other members of the party had the red poll burger and lasagna, All were excellent. There was plenty of food but we managed to polish off every last crumb!

We were amazed when the deserts were served; they were presented like art work! I was not expecting such quality from the pub I had decided never to visit again.

We were served by friendly waiting staff, nothing was too much trouble. The land lord and land lady were 2 friendliest people I have ever met. The atmosphere was perfect for an old pub. Even though we ate in the restaurant, the garden looked great, especially if you have children!

The Feather was brilliant value for money, it was worth every penny! I never believed the feathers could return to its former glory, and if I had to compare it to any pubs within the local area, I would choose the Feathers over the Rose and Crown!

I will defiantly be back over the summer to sample that garden with a cold pint of Aspall’s!

Chef is not happy when menu variation requested- only cheese on a ham sarnie but enough to cause disruption. Jacket potato small and tough too. Overpriced.
Have also eaten from resturant menu and in our opinion this place still has a long way to go before it compares to other local pubs. Landlady full of excuses but dont offer service until ready to deliver and charge customers!

We attended the feathers fun day during the royal wedding bank holiday and must say the hog roast was amazing , we had a great time and was pleasantly suprised by both the food and service , the children were entertained with the bouncy castles and large secure gardens , well worth the visit and we shall definatley go again ! .

We booked to stay at the Feathers Hotel at the beginning of the year and arrived about 7pm expecting to stay for the night as part of a short break with our son and got turned away - the new owners said they did not know we had booked and the rooms could not be occupied as they had issues with the water heating. Reading that some people are saying they enjoyed the hotel with the new owners, I suspect I was not told the entire truth.

We got turned away with no help in locating alternative accommodation other than there is a B+B over the road, but that does not have family rooms and as such would be more expensive and not suitable for my family.

I will not be booking again - the placed looked ok from what we saw, but the lack of assistance from the management would put me off. I would recommend checking your reservation if you booked before April.

I went to this place last year asnd it was dismal and shanty like. Called in this year to see if it had improved and was shocked. New owners just took over, crap was out, and good taste was in. The change is suprising it is really nice and friendly, chatted with the owners for ages. Staff are bright, friendly and very efficient they can't help you enough, especially the attractive American one typical US customer efficiency, and the food is brilliant ask to meet the chef he's very knowlegeable.
I would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone. What a nice change

Room Tip: Very close to the Royal estate of Sandringham
