“Best Small Beach Front Hotel”

We stayed here for five days and can not say enough GOOD things about this place to fit in the review space. Located on the best beach in Tulum, the El Paraíso is the perfect locally owned small hotel to use as a base for your stay. The rooms are as shown, lots of high pressured HOT water, a/c, wifi, free parking, and an outside patio area in front of the rooms. The breakfast is self serve but it is one of the most generous freebies I've seen in a long time. You fill up your tray, take it back to your room or patio and enjoy. THE STAFF are the most helpful and friendliest people we met in Tulum. They did everything they could for us and other guests during our stay. Only steps away from the most beautiful beach in Tulum this hotel is a hidden gem. There are no safety or security issues here, they have 24 hr guards. So put aside all the bad things you've read about Mexico and come to El Paraíso Hotel and enjoy life. The adventure is waiting, all you have to do is show up. =^••^=

After looking at other options, I went with El Paraíso mostly because of its closeness to Playa Paraíso and also because it had a good price for everything it offered.

I requested cabin #1, the closest one to the beach, and even though they made no guarantees via email, when I got here it was mine.

If you're looking for a more "rustic" place, this hotel is not for you. El Paraíso has full power all day long, air conditioning all day long, satellite TV, uninterrupted hot water, and great service. Oh, and breakfast is included. It is up to you to get up during the day and find something to do. I enjoyed activities more knowing that I would sleep comfortably and with the temperature that I wanted just by setting the air conditioning. Wifi can be flakey, but it works well about 95% of the time.

The hotel has a nice parking space if you're renting a car. And if you're renting a car, getting to everywhere else is a breeze.

I paid USD 89 per night, taxes included. This fee would have covered two people, but I'm traveling alone.

Room Tip: Rooms are all pretty much the same, but #1 is closest to the beach.

After being rudely turned away in Tulum village by Posada del Sur, a friendly taxi driver brought us here (he couldn't go any further up the road as it was flooded, so perhaps it was fate that brought us here!) Sylvia is the very kind owner and showed us the decent, clean and beach front rooms. They are not facing the beach, but built at a vertical angle along the beach. Each room has a little porch where we could hide from the rain.

But the main attraction is Paradise beach, right in front of you! Lots of (free) deck chairs and bar service and a warm ocean. There are also 2 very nice restaurants in walking distance, but not much more. If you want some more bars and choice, you'll have to move to the village - which is a cab ride away. But who needs that when you have the beach?

The best for last; Tulum ruins! Just 10 minutes walk along the beach, perfect! Unfortunately they were closed because of the rain, but at least we saw them from a distance!

The wonderful beach would be enough to recommend the place but the hotel itself is good. Not the charming cottage in front of the sea but a pleasant resort with the main services and quite clean and well maintained rooms.
The beach is just some minutes' walk away while the Ruins of Tulum and the taxis to reach the center of Tulum are also very close.
The rooms are not very spacious but are equipped with 24-hours-electricity (not a standard everywhere in the area), air conditioning, ceiling fan, free beach towels and a personal safe. No hair dryer.
The breakfast is fine but not frequently replenished and it has to be taken away by tray as there is no breakfast room.
The receptionists are really kind and available to answer questions and help you organize your stay, always smiling and really positive.

My boyfriend and I stayed at El Paraiso for 8 days during my Spring Break. It was everything I could have asked for, not a super-touristy resort, only 9 rooms to the hotel, and we had all the amenities we needed. The resort is right on the beach, and continental breakfast was included every morning. We also had free beach chairs and the mattreses were only 100 pesos a day for hotel guests. The restaurant on the beach included waiters that brought the drinks right to your chair and they wouldn't hassle you to order from them either, which was nice. The beach does get a little crowded in the afternoon however because El Paraiso has a sand parking lot allowing access for other tourists and sometimes tour-busses, and there was a couple times we couldn't get chairs, which I found to be the only downfall. Its private enough before 12 if you like to get a relaxing morning swim in. The Tulum ruins are also just a 15-minute walk down the beach. The rooms were always clean I found them to be a good value for where we were. The air conditioning was a little noisy but we just put a wedge by what was rattling and it was fine the rest of the trip. There are round-the-clock security guards on the premises which make it feel very safe. It's off the path of where most of the restaurants on the Tulum strip are but only a 5 minute drive or 15 minute bike ride to that area, which was preferable. Consuela, who held down reception everyday, was also very helpful, and they just updated their wi-fi router so we were able to stream movies offline faster. :) Also, pillows are a little hard so sleep quality gets a 4/5.

What a beach! Sand was soft and beach was deep! Good one to stroll on! Walk north and you can see the ruins on the cliff. We stayed and had a drink and played on the beach. Facilities seemed minimal and there was construction going on at the cabanas. It was definitely a WOW moment. My only thought was that is was a shame there was not better facilities. Maybe that is the point to keep the crowds away!!

We stayed here for 5 nights in February and payed $150 per night for a room with two small double beds, which is quite good value for the area. Although the rooms don't face the ocean you can see it from all the verandas. The rooms are basic but clean but there is no fridge and the air conditioning is very noisy. However, staff was very friendly and helpful and let us borrow a cold box to keep drinks cool but had to go into town every day for fresh ice.
Breakfast is reasonably good but unfortunately, it is only served between 9-11am, and as the sun rises at 7am it is quite a long wait. Also, breakfast is served in a rather unappealing room without any atmosphere whatsoever.
All rooms come with two double beds but we only found them adequate as large singles, which means it is very popular with young families and sometimes the childrens' crying is a very good alarm clock for the rest of the guests.
The beach club, which is associated with the hotel, is very popular during the day but at night it is very, very quiet and there is not much around except for a nearby Italian restuarant, which is good, and a Thai resturant, which is excellent.
There are two security guards all night long and on our last night we made the mistake of removing our wrist bands. This was noticed by both security and at breakfast the next day. We didn't realise that it was being monitored to this extent but it was reassuring to know.
The beach near the hotel is in the least developed stretch in Tulum and within walking distance to the Tulum Mayan ruins, which is best viewed first thing in the morning at 8am before the crowds arrive. There are many things you can do from the beach including snorkelling, fishing and kite surfing and there are no noisy power boats or jet ski. Overall, we would recommend a very safe stay here as police presence is evident both on the roads and on the beach and security at the hotel is also very effective.

Room Tip: Cabana #1 is closest to the ocean and is semi detached.
