We stayed in Tulum for 3 nights and picked this hotel quite late. 2 Italian girls manage it day to day and they are nice and very helpful with advice. We had a suite downstairs next to the pool. Good (but not great bed), clean, lovely decorations and great pool. My only gripes was breakfast was a bit busy at times having to wait for the toaster or coffee as it's a self serve type of arrangement. Also breakfast starts at 8 which is too late if you want to get somewhere early. They should start at 7 or 730 in my opinion. Also we had a suite which has no fridge! I raised this to one of the girls and they ensured me this was being addressed - however comments from 12 mths ago say the same thing. Apparently the smaller rooms have their own fridges - I don't get that. I had to hand my beers over to the girls to keep cold which they happily obliged me with but surely not necessary. Regarding the location it's fine - we walked everywhere in Tulum and no problem. Overall I would recommend. V pleasant place.

Beautiful place in the heart of Tulum town!
Very quite place with very zen rooms.
Yes the place is not close to the beach but you can ride a bike or take a scooter or even take a taxi that is very cheap...who cares but you are going to be far from all the noisy beach clubs ;)

The hotel is 3 blocks away from the main street of Tulum. Show the taxi driver a map because they don't know where it is.
The rooms are very spacious and decorated in a shabby chic style. I liked the bathroom a lot.
The staff ist lovely and very helpful.
Breakfast is better taken in town (there is a very lovely italian café on the main street!).
Room No. 3 towards the street is rather loud at night with the air conditioning compressor on the roof! So reserve another one in case you're sensitive..
And beware that there is no one around at night - don't lock the door without your key in the pocket.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the pool are quiet.

Hola amigos, thanks for your beautiful review!
Yes, you are right, Tulum is growing so fast that sometimes people get confused about the streets, but it is still a little comfy place.
Thanks for mentioning the bathrooms, we put a lot of efforts to make they as shiny as they are.
We are also improving breakfast service, so next time you come you will have more choice.
By night we have a Security guard that is always available to help, it's important to point it out.
We hope to see you again in the next future, we are always changing , we will like to show you our new improvements. Hasta pronto!

This little hotel is an absolute gem. The room is charming, the A/C is powerful, the pool is clean and calming, and the staff is incredibly nice. It's conveniently located a short bike ride or walk from the heart of the commercial strip. I will stay there again when I return to Tulum.

Hotel Howlita is a cute little boutique hotel, tucked away in the south end of Tulum town, away from the noise of the main street. It has a nice pool for cooling off after spending the day at the beach, lounge beds for tanning, and a 2nd floor patio where you can hang out in a hammock chair and cool off in the middle of the day.
Staff are very friendly - the main staff speak good English (Italian, French and German probably), and there are bicycles to rent if you want to ride into town or to the beach, which is quite far.
Rooms are spacious - we had a king and a single bed, lots of hot water, and air conditioning.
We had bean chairs outside our room to relax in, upstairs rooms have a balcony and chairs.
Breakfast is minimal - coffee, toast, orange juice and cereal. You can supplement with fruit from the market. We brought granola from home.
Very enjoyable and safe.
No fridge or safe in the room, but you can use the safe in the office. We brought a cooler to plug in for our drinks.
I'd recommend it, if you want to be away from the busy centre.
