“A wonderful stay in Tulum”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic week in December 2012 at Cabanas La Luna. We were staying in the Garden Suite and were genuinely blown away by the experience. We travelled from London and were exhausted by the long journey and were immediately met by the friendly Dutch managers who made our check-in super quick and easy.

The Garden suite is a lovely and surprisingly large room with an en suite and walk-in wardrobe. The decor is great and is full of nice touches like the foot bath outside the patio where you can wash off the sand from the beach. The restaurant/bar is on the seafront and is the ideal place to have a fresh Mexican breakfast and plan the day ahead. Overall the food was great, the lunch menu was full of Mexican treats and the guacamole (being half-Mexican) was exceptional. You can also get this brought to you on the beach so you can enjoy the sun with a few cold cervezas.

The location is ideal, right in the middle of the Tulum beach area and is a quick taxi ride to downtown or any of the local tourist sights. If you needed any advice, the Dutch management are really friendly and attentive...they made us feel right at home!

We will definitely be coming back as soon as possible!

Stayed here with a group of friends in late January. We stayed in Capt. Dale's Quarters, beautful view of the beach and ocean. This place was very relaxing, I enjoyed the absense of clocks, radios, tv's and the internet. A cute little beach community surrounds the property offering shopping and dining. Staff at the hotel were all friendly and helpful. We stocked up on beer and other provisions from the nearby grocery store and spent most evenings hanging out on our ocean front deck laughing, drinking, playing card games, star gazing and having a great time. Our little beach hut was very comfortable and kept nice and clean by the housekeeping staff. This is a no frills, back to basics sort of establishment, don't expect a grand, corporate, luxury, all inclusive type hotel, I didn't even see any of those types in Tulum, which was just fine with me.

Staying at Cabanans La Luna was one of the most amazing experiences of out lives. Captain Dales Quarters is the nicest cabin on a beach you will ever find. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Beach is the best in Tulum. We loved it and highly recommend it. Tulum is a very relaxed part of Mexico and great for getting away from the busy life.

From the moment we arrived for my son's destination wedding the experience was amazing. Fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit and bread and jelly every morning for breakfast. Gracious and helpful service. Unique, well maintained cabanas. Beautiful white beaches and large bed like lounge chairs. Rueben, Iris, Ana Sophie, Quami and all the other employess made our stay a memory for a lifetime. The food was delicious. The wedding on the beach was breath taking, the little details like the sand castle with the margaritas in glasses for a toast after the wedding. The property was well patrolled so you feel totally safe. I have never felt so stress free on a vacation. Anything you asked for was taking care of. My daughter in law had a salsa teacher for our welcome dinner party and he did a great job. Everyone had fun. The staff set it up perfectly in the chalet with floating candles, lanterns and lights. Quami and the flaming Mexican Flag Shots were great fun. The wedding dinner was fresh and delicious and served with a smile. We were made so comfortable and treated so well. Many guests were concerned about their safety in Mexico and we had no worries once we landed in Tulum at La Luna. If you want a destination wedding in Paradise, with unique accomadations, and excellant service I would definetly make this your number one choice. My son and daughter in law wanted a unique experience for themselves as well as their guests and everyone went home with nothing but happy memories. They were adament that it was not just a cookie cutter destination wedding and La Luna did not disappoint. Some of the married guest want to redo their vows so they can have their wedding again at La Luna. My son and his wife wanted a place that they could go back to in the future and this IS just that. We loved everything about it! We love you all at LaLuna.

Room Tip: Loved Captain Dales Cabana. Amazing View, great bathroom, comfy bed and the best, the sound of the...

We can not recommend the La Luna enough. We stayed for one night at the end of our honeymoon in November. The place is beautiful and the service really friendly. Full marks. We would definitely go back.

I basically spent 6 months on the internet planning our destination wedding. No site visits, no in person vendor meetings, none of the traditional wedding rigamarole. We just wanted a good time in a beautiful location with all our nearest and dearest. I went to Mexico feeling pretty confident about our choices for the wedding based on my research and the attentive emails back and forth with La Luna and our other vendors. But admit I was mentally preparing myself for possible let downs. We kept telling ourselves - hey if you can't have fun in Mexico, that's on you. Again, coping with planning one of the most important days of our lives without seeing a place or meeting a single person that was going to make it happen for us. As soon as we stepped foot on the property, we both had a huge sigh of relief. The place is gorgeous! Well maintained, charming cabanas, beautiful beachfront. La Luna staff was top notch! All of them - the manager, reception, waiters, chefs, bartenders, housecleaning, groundsmen and security. All super friendly and will go above and beyond. I'm still in awe of how they remember everyone's names with as many faces they see week after week. Every detail of our wedding was superb and will be talked about by our guests for a long time. We had several bartenders, chefs and restaurateurs among our guests and they were all impressed by the service, the food, and attention to detail. The restaurant on the property, Las Estrellas, is wonderful. They catered every wedding event we had there on the property (Welcome Party, Rehearsal BBQ, and Wedding Reception) and the food was fantastic! The best catered wedding food I've had. And I've heard my guests say the same. Seriously impressed. I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding week in Tulum, Mexico at Cabanas La Luna. I love you guys - can't thank you enough for the wonderful week we had. Hope to visit you again soon!

Room Tip: All the cabanas are unique and charming. Just go with what fits your budget and group size. You wo...

We just came back from 5 days at La Luna where we had our wedding - and filled all of the rooms with our guests. Everything was amazing, and exceeded our expectations. The staff were lovely and so helpful - they were so kind, so attentive to our needs, and seemed to be just as excited about our wedding as we were! The food was incredible - at the wedding, at breakfast every morning, and everywhere in between. We also can't say enough great things about Iris, the wedding coordinator, who handled every detail with a smile. In addition to all of this, the beach is stunning, the rooms are excellent, and everyone (a diverse group of people ranging from age 10 to age 70!) had a great time.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are good but the beach front rooms are definitely the best - Captain Dale's and...
