“Good time and great service”
Reviewed February 24, 2014 via mobile

Stayed for a week-end to attend a wedding. Spacious clean room with everything you need. Great service by Richard and crew. Excellent food. Will come again! The beach is only a nice bike ride away so don't bother with expensive hotels at the beach with lots of problems as reported by friends (salt water showers anyone?).

I actually miss this place, and there are a few reasons, I'll break it down;

Location - it's in a great location, close to everything. Not on the beach, but it's a really nice (and fast) bike ride down. The path is a serpent shaped ride, watch out for little lizards crossing! ;)
A close walk to the 2 main stores (where you can buy everything you need), close to the local transit stops. Great location!

Staff - basically treat you like family. Richard is the owner, and truly makes you feel at home. Everyone there had a smile.

Food/Menu - amazing! Beautiful presentation, simple and super flavourful. I had a daily addiction to the juices there, morning routine became; ride to Teetotum, juice & coffee, ride to beach for swim/snorkel.

Highlights - rooftop lounge, starry nights and sunsets. Juices, food and meeting great friends to share them with. RIchard and Dali - meet them and you'll be smiling too :)

Have to say, I didn't spend the night there...but have many memories. (I lived on the beach, working at another hotel and then rented a house in pueblo) Teetotum became a 2nd home, and a part of my daily life there. It attracts a great group of local characters.

Check it out, really a great place to include in your Tulum experience.

Thank you to Richard and the Teetotum staff for helping make my retreat from winter rejuvenating and memorable. The rooms are fantastically big, clean and appointed with ample seating.

Richard provided great beach, restaurant and yoga recommendations. I took 3 classes at Yoga Dicha, an easy 10 minute walk from Teetotum. Studio comes highly recommended, great instructors and suitable for all levels.

Hotel location offers the perfect blend of Tulum Puebla and beach, 3km from beach and short walk to town of Tulum. The bike rides to and from the beach were great and the walk to town is easy. Loved not driving or riding in a car!

Other reviews bring up concerns about road noise at night, which can easily be drown out with air conditioning or fan setting on air conditioner. I slept like a baby.

I had the pleasure of staying at teetotum for 1 week with my mother.
It worked perfectly for us as she is a late riser so every morning I strolled into town(no more than 10 minute walk) and had great coffee or bought fruit or went out for ice cream after she had gone to bed. It is in a perfect location, and the best beach is on the other side of all the hotels - just a short drive away. I am also a vegetarian and the menu has lots of awesome salads washed in purified water I might add and each night the specials usually had a vegetarian option which were really tasty.
The staff were very nice and yes it's all true Richard, the owner couldn't have been nicer. I'll give you an example, I forgot my hat and he happened to have an extra one and gave it to me. He also couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we were ok with our directions.
I don't have a bad word to say about the place because honestly, I loved it and missed being in tulum the moment I stepped on the plane.

Just back from a fantastic trip to Tulum -- Teetotum was everything prior posters state and more. Hip modern decor, friendly and helpful staff, relaxing courtyard and roofdeck, clean rooms, hot water and AC when you need it and large screen windows and ceiling fan for when it's cool enough that you don't...

I hadn't realized before coming to Tulum that NONE of the beach hotels have power/electricity except what they can generate from wind and solar. Perhaps some folks would prefer that rusticity, but personally, at the end of a long day at the beach, I LOVED having light to read by, a cold drink, and reliable wifi. Did NOT miss TV at all.

Rooms have a small fridge and 2 small bottles H20 daily. Chedraui store, like a Mexican Wal-Mart, has toiletries/clothing/groceries/alcohol/bank machines, is just down the road. Abundant clean towels including beach towels to use.

We had a car which was a necessity for seeing Coba ruins and going to the beach each day (we did bike it on one cooler day but it's about 20-30min).

Food was great -- there's a TON of restaurants to try but the hotel does a great job with a menu which has a multicultural feel and fresh daily specials. Continental breakfast was included, although we missed it two mornings because we were up and out of there early. If I had to mention one quibble about Teetotum it would be that breakfast didn't really start at 8am as advertised...closer to 9-9:30 in actuality. Mostly was an issue due to craving coffee first thing.

I can't wait to go back to Tulum, and after whole week of scoping out the beach, I don't think I'd want to stay anywhere else.

Thank you, Richard, for all the helpful tips and great stories!!! Give Dali a pet for me!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are at the back of the courtyard, so there's only a bit of street noise from cars...

It's Very chilled-out at this funky four room Eco-Friendly Hotel. Located just off the busy main drag (10 min walk), and a 20 min bike ride to the beach. Having a car here was a real plus, as it was a 10 minute drive to the Tulum ruins and beach, and a 40 minute drive to the Ruins of Coba, in Quintana Roo. THe rooms are large, with comfortable bed, and large showwer. The reasturant is very good here, and probably the best in town. We did go out one evening, and the meal was just ok in comparision. We also liked sitting at the bar, (2 for 1 happy hour 5-7), and hanging with the local people, (Michelle and her sweet pup!) sipping good tequilla and drinks. It was endless entertainment for us watching Richards dog and the pup chewing on each other for hours on end. I would diffently return.

Room Tip: The upper level rooms have better light.
