“Beautiful tropical rainforest”

the last of a few mayan villagers will take you around this beautiful piece of untouched forest, to see spider monkeys, toucans and if you are very lucky ( and at night) jaguars.

“Great Day at Punta Laguna”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2012

We visited Punta Laguna with our 3 young children(4,6,8) and had a wonderful afternoon. As recommended by other reviews we did hire the guide. Our guide was Angel, who was friendly, patient and very informative. It was very apparent that he took great pride in his community and the work they were doing to protect their land. We enjoyed the fact that this was not a busy tourist attraction, in fact our hotel had not even heard of this place. We would recommend getting the package deal, which included our guide, a walk through the jungle in hopes of spotting some monkeys, a canoe ride with a fun little zipline trip, a swim in a cenote (12m down), and a mayan ceremony. Seeing the spider monkeys in the wild was an incredible experience to share with our children and we would highly recommend this adventure to any nature lovers out there!

“Listen to the jungle!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2012

Beautiful place to spend a day sharing with the local community the pleasure of the jungle, the lagoon and the Mayan culture. Very good example of self-managing community.

“Amazing howler monkeys”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2012

We arrived in the afternoon as had been suggested to us for best monkey viewing. We paid for a guide, but it quickly became apparent that he didn't speak a word of English, and our Spanish is very limited. Still, he showed us spider monkeys and patiently waited whilst we took lots of photos. Then he indicated we should follow him (at a near run, at times) and about 1 km later, we saw howler monkeys just a few metres away. The guide kept calling out to the monkeys, and eventually they made the most awesome sound in reply. It made the hairs on the back of our necks rise. So even though we were disappointed not to have been able to communicate with our guide, the experience itself was worth it.
