WOW! We just got back from staying at CAB TUL and it was spectacular! The beach area they have is the BEST I have seen. Amazing.

Very clean rooms with nice simple modern design.

Staff is off the charts in service and hospitality. From the front desk to the restaurant it was steller.

Jose who manages the restaurant and bar went to every length to make sure we were pleased and things were done right. We were staying with a large group so he had his hands full but managed things perfectly. Tuna Nachos!!

Hopefully Tulum keeps it's simple charm and does not get taken over by high taxes and giant hotels. It is an absolutely amazing area with the perfect relaxed vibe throughout. It really is a magical place on earth.

Thank you to the staff for a fantastic time.

Also, I was there to DJ for a wedding and the hotel and staff made everything great! I would highly recommend having your wedding and reception here. The location cannot be beat!

Room Tip: Take one of the good rooms that open up to the beach near the bar. AWESOME. Sleep with the door op...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience. The whole team says "gracias" for your excellent review. The wedding was a success and this is what counts!
Regarding your thoughts about Tulum, indeed, it is very different to Playa del Carmen and Cancun as Tulum's beaches are part of an ecological preservation zone, so no giant hotels in the future!
FYI: You stayed in our Deluxe Rooms which will be very soon part of our new Hotel, THE BEACH.
Our Deluxe and Superior Rooms are quite different in category & style to the Beach front standard & Partial Sea View Rooms. This is why we are about to open our new lobby and therefore will have a sister Hotel :)
We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back one day, at Cabañas Tulum or The Beach.

Muchas Gracias

We just came back from 4 days in Tulum over Thanksgiving vacation. I booked Cabanas Tulum due to it's reviews on Tripadvisor and the pictures on their website.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the very friendly Sandy. She went over a list of how the hotel works and led us to our room. We got the Beachfront View room, and the view was perfect. You are literally right on the sand, with gorgeous palm trees shading the porch. We walked up and down ziggy beach and saw few other hotels with private cabanas right on the beach like that.
The staff at the hotel and restaurant would have to be the gem of the hotel. Everyone went out of their way to help us, gave us great restaurant tips and all were uber friendly. Everyone spoke perfect English, and the maid always made a cute animal out of towels every day!
Some of the cons:
-I kind of wish we got the Deluxe rooms instead of the regular rooms. The shower in our room was very very weak, I hardly had hot water and it was just a light stream. That being said, it is a cabana on the beach, so I'm sure they are trying their best.
-The bed we had was not very comfortable, it felt like sleeping on cement.
-I wish there was a mosquito net around the bed, I was bitten pretty badly every night.
-We really wanted to enjoy the ocean view after sun down, but couldn't because the mosquitos were relentless. I wish they could put mosquito repellent candles on the porches or something.

I originally booked the regular rooms b/c I didn't think we would be in the rooms too much, so the deluxe seemed wasteful. However, there's really not much to do at night, so we had to retire to the room around 9-10pm every night. I could never get comfortable b/c of the mosquitos.

Wi-fi was perfect in our room and around the property!

Overall, this was a great hotel. Most of my issues are with the room itself, but you are really pay ing for the location and the view...and there isn't a bad thing I can say about that. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and the cabanas are very private. There are hammocks everywhere and barely any people around. It is worth it, but I would splurge and get the deluxe rooms if you can't really rough it =)

Room Tip: Get the beachfront rooms, deluxe or the regular. It's totally worth it!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. We are glad you had a relaxing Thanksgiving break and appreciate your comments about our friendly staff.
I apologize if the water pressure was very weak during your stay. Water hardness because of calculus generation is unfortunately a frequent situation in Tulum. Certainly, pipes are checked on a regular basis, this is why I wish you would have reported it during your stay so that our maintenance staff could have seen to it. Thank you again for your feedback which will help us to improve the service & servicing.
I hope we have the pleasure to welcome you back one day, this time with a fully functioning shower!
FYI: Our Deluxe & Superior Deluxe Room will soon be part of our new sister Hotel The Beach.
The new lobby is about to open soon.

Muchas gracias

We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our tour of Mexico courtesy of Imagine Latin America. The location is idyllic – right on the beach and yards from the sea. Our standard room was a good size and very clean. It was nice to have small balcony but with the beach so close we didn’t spend much time on it. It’s a very laid back place – not much to do but swim in the sea and lie in the hammocks. Other posters are right to say that service at breakfast is slow but this didn’t bother us – when it came, the food was great and the whole point of a Caribbean beach is to slow down and relax. As there are no shops nearby, we appreciated the free bottle of water on arrival and the ability to top it up at the water cooler in Reception throughout our stay. Only downside was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes the night we arrived but that was our fault – fresh off a long flight we were too tired to remember to use our mosquito spray. Overall, a great introduction to a new country.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback. It is nice to read that you tuned in to Tulum's vibes: laid back & easy going, this is all about a vacation in Tulum. The mosquitos, Alas! are a common nuisance but with some repellent on, they leave you alone. We are also happy you appreciated the free water refill at our reception area, moreover it is a nice way to save plastic bottles!
I hope we have the pleasure to welcome you back one day.

just got back last night and wish i was still there :-(. we booked a deluxe for my husband and me, and a partial sea view for our teenager. when we arrived, they upgraded us to the superior room which is the same footprint as the deluxe, only the seating area is inside and there is a roof deck with lounging beds and outdoor tub - which we used both for morning yoga and an alfresco dinner with takeout chicken from pollo blanco (and moonlight soak!). this is our third time in tulum and we would definitely go back. my only complaint is that the front desk wasn't able to make reservations and appointments for us other than the companies they had arrangements with. if they had better concierge-type services i would give them five stars!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review as soon as you arrived home.
We are happy to hear you and your family enjoyed your stay at our Hotel. You stayed in one of our Deluxe Superior Rooms which all come with a lovely roof deck and how great to know that you used it for your morning Yoga sessions! Our Deluxe and Superior Deluxe rooms will be in a few weeks time part of our sister hotel The Beach, a different only adults hotel.
Relating to the Concierge service, we normally try to satisfy and grant any of our guest's request, if possible. I am certain that there must have been a misunderstanding as it is up to the guest to decide where to make his reservation with. What we offer is simply some piece of advice what to do or where to go. Thank you again for being our guest.
I hope we have the pleasure to welcome you back one day.

Muchas Gracias

Our daughter wasmarried at Cabanas Tulum July 21 and we all stayed there as well. The beach wait staff and the entire hotel staff were fantastic. We highly recommend this fabulous hotel. The only drawback it had was no air conditioning in our unit. Loved being able to walk out our door onto the beach. Can't say enough good things about this trip. We had breakfast on the beach every morning and the staff would set up our tables and serve us with a ton of smiles and quick service. The personal touch they gave to all of us was very charming. They would help set up our beach beds under the palm trees for shade and gave us excellent beachside service.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind words about our Hotel & staff. We are honestly thrilled to know that the whole wedding party enjoyed their stay and shared their happiness with us.
I apologize for the technical problem about the air conditioning, as all our rooms are appointed with a/c functioning from 7pm-7am (for ecological reasons). We can assure you that this situation has been fixed and it would be our pleasure to welcome you back at Cabañas Tulum one day.

FYI: Our Deluxe & Superior Deluxe Room will soon be part of our new sister Hotel The Beach.
The new lobby is about to open in a few weeks time.

We stayed here for 8 days in Nov. 2012 and it was the best vacation ever. The hotel is in the perfect location, the beach is beautiful, the rooms are HUGE and immaculate (every day!). The staff go out of their way to make sure your needs are met. We had a superior Deluxe room and it was nice to have so much space since we were there for so long. We loved the rooftop deck - which is very private - but I don't think we would have missed it if we didn't have it. Be sure to bring a flashlight - it is pitch black here at night and difficult to see walking to resturants, etc.

We took the advice of Maumi at the front desk for a tour to Sian Kaan and it was amazing - way better than the Chichen Itza our we did on our own. As shopping is limited in Tulum center, we also took the staff's recommendation and spent an afternoon/evening in Playa delCarmen, which is about an hour away. I got my shopping fix taken care of and we had an upscale dinner. That was enough of the city craziness. I also had a Mayan Clay massage which was pretty nice. It was done right on the deck beside our room...sigh...

The restaurant at Cabanas Tulum is one of the best in Tulum. As others have recommended, don't skip breakfast there. (I had the biggest chocolate croissant I've ever seen!). My husband has a cerviche addiction and tried it every day, at every place we ate. He rated the hotel's El Bistro the best. The restaurant is comfortable, the view spectacular and the menu varied. The staff is extremely attentive but not hovering as at American restaurants. Just relax and enjoy.

We have done our share of traveling and this is one of the most enjoyable and relaxing places we've ever been. ..right up there with Santorini. I was glad we rented a car so that we could go into town easily just for a change of scenery once in a while. It was also a fairly economical trip as the shopping was so limited...not a bad thing! Do yourself a favor and book this place.

Room Tip: We were in #206 and it was perfect.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your detailed review. We truly believe that relaxing & enjoying oneself should be part of every well deserved vacation and it pleases us even more to read about your fantastic experience at our Hotel. Sharing your thoughts is really helpful as not every person knows about the Sian Ka'an biosphere for instant. The advice to bring a flashlight is also very attentive of you since Tulum beach is isolated from the town and thus has no street lights!
You stayed in Superior Deluxe room which will soon be part of our new sister Hotel "The Beach", opening in a few weeks. So in case you would like to book another Deluxe / Deluxe Superior room this will no longer be at Cabañas Tulum but The Beach!
I hope we have the pleasure to welcome you back one day.

Only stayed 4 days and did not want to leave. Going back as soon as possible. This is the way I remember Mexico from 25 years ago, but better! The staff is incredible! The food was AWSUM! The cabanas were amazing... Crazy refreshing ocean breeze made the small cabana we stayed in absolutely perfect! Cabanas are artfully decorated and ALWAYS clean. If you are into exclusively 5 star hotels, stay away. However, if you are into exceptionally friendly and helpful helpful staff, excellent food & drink, combined with the most beautiful beach imaginable, this is the place for a memorable get away!! Highly recommended!
