“A week at Dreams--good and bad”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

We recently stayed at Dreams Tulum for a week in June 2014. The resort itself is beautiful with extremely well kept lush landscaping, beautiful and clean suites, magnificent pools and bars, wonderful restaurant choices, and great nightly entertainment --just beautiful! At check in, after a long day of travel, you are however bombarded with a sales pitch from the Unlimited Club staff for AMResorts. A person actually stands behind you at check in waiting to grab you and make you think they have important resort information to share when in fact they are setting you up for a pitch. We were hot, tired, and thirsty all day travelers and all we wanted to do was go to our room and head to the beach-- not be cornered into scheduling a "90 minute meeting" to join a timeshare while on vacation! Needless to say we later in the week canceled our "meeting" because we were there for vacation not for a pitch! They try to bribe you with cash coupons for resort services at the spa etc. I just wanted to start my vacation! But our stay at the resort was wonderful! I will recommend the men to bring along a pair of pants as two of the restaurants require elegant attire. We were able to enjoy all the restaurants with no wait lines--always a table ready for us. Great food, Great service, great beach, great pool and great rooms! The one thing I do have to say on the cons side is the air conditioner in room was not working correctly. We had it serviced several times to be told 'its working fine' but it could not cool our room lower than 24 Celsius. This made it very hard to shower and dress for the evening when you are dripping sweat! The room itself is wonderful--very comfortable bed, rainfall shower and Jacuzzi in room, cold drinks always in fridge and kept very clean! Also we were told that every night we would have a schedule of events for the following day in our room--we received this one time all week. We even called front office to request a copy and nothing was received. Had to walk to the front check in to get one every day--they did post it in the main area too. We did spent a day at the spa and had a wonderful package deal for couples massage in the jungle hut---FABULOUS!!!!!! Thank you Selene and Eugenia!!! We also signed up for the "anniversary package" when reservation was made--and I do have to mention that that special package was a bottle of Wine in our room with a sweet note and two apples--kinda funny--the drinks and food are included anyway so not sure how this was a "special gift!" LOL We spent our days at the pool and beach where there was always a lounge chair waiting for us--no problem! Also, loved the fact that they had plenty of large soft pool towels always available at the towel hut and they don't limit how many you can have or make you show your room key. There is lots of shade provided at the beach as well as sun of course! Beach service is fantastic--they are always making sure you have a drink in hand!! Did have some good drinks and some bad drinks though too. Lots of selection to pick from on the menu!! Staff is extremely friendly!! Overall, our stay at Dreams Tulum was great!!

Our Dreams Tulum stay was extraordinary. We were guests there during the last two weeks of March 2013. We have to agree with many of this resorts reviews, the grounds and tropical landscaping at Dreams Tulum is truly amazing. We loved the beach and appreciated that Dreams Tulum is not located in a community of resorts which always makes for a crowded experience.

We were provided with a beautiful 3rd floor room with a wonderful view of the grounds. We thank Marcello of UVC for his assistance with the room as it certainly added to our experience at Dreams Tulum

We enjoyed all of the restaurants finding the food excellent, the food selection diverse an service impeccable. We were able to enjoy each restaurant on multiple nights and always came away very satisfied with the culinary experience We particularly enjoyed the Seaside Grill with its al fresco style dining location next the beach. We were fortunate to spend a number of full moon evenings at the Sea Side Grill, the view and feel of the place was breathtaking. We recommend the Chocolate Martini at the Manatees Bar for a night cap following supper at the Seaside Grill.

The care, attention and friendliness of all restaurants and bar staff certainly added to the quality of our the dining refreshment experiences. We particularly appreciated meeting Amelia at the Sugar Reef Bar in the evenings and Guadalupe on the beach during the day. The staff at CoCo’s likewise provided very attentive and pleasant service each morning we went to CoCo’s for coffee and mid morning refreshments. The extra efforts made by the resort for Mexican Fiesta Night on the plaza was impressive and the food and local entertainment were excellent. Its why we come to Mexico.

We made good use of the gym and found it well appointed with quality equipment. We enjoyed the variety of entertainment at Dreams Tulum. Having been to the Mayan Rivera on eight occasions we began to find the entertainment becoming both similar and repetitive among the resorts we’ve stayed at.. However, at Dreams they provided a wide variety of entertainers that we had not seen before and more Mexican themed entertainment, which we very much appreciated.

All in all we had an excellent refreshing vacation although we had to end it a day early to avoid being stuck in Cancun due to a massive snow storm back home. Regardless we had fun and that made shoveling snow a little less burdensome when done with such great memories and a nice tan.

Room Tip: If you're with UVC check with the resort UVC Reprentative.

We've just returned from 2 weeks at Dreams, Tulum & have to say it is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The staff were so friendly & helpful, the food was excellent & there is so much to do in the area that we ran out of time. The hotel was spotless & the gardens beautiful & well kept. We would highly recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Mexico.

Room Tip: We had a garden room which was lovely.

We stayed in May and had an awesome experience. Everthing at the hotel was on point, great variety alongside lots to eat and drink. Room was very comfortable and the hotel staff were awesome. Nothing was too much trouble. Only down side was the hotel team that tried to hook you into what felt like a timeshare as we arrived at the hotel and the pressure we felt obliged but quickly wised up and declined. Do go to Coco Boncos via hotel to avoid confusion its worth the pesos it was the best night ever. Cant wait to return hopefully next year.

Room Tip: Garden view and Ocean view are worth the upgrades opt out of staying in rooms in the main buiding as...

Just returned after spending 10 days at the Dreams Resort in Tulum. It was one of the best holidays we have had. The gardens and rooms were immaculate. The staff could not do enough for us to make it a really memorable holiday. Upon arrival they upgraded us to a luxury garden view with Spa as it was my husbands 60th birthday. Also they left cake, balloons and a banner in our room on the day of his birthday. Tried four of the six restaurants and again the staff went out of their way to make you feel at home.
If anything could be improved it would be the evening entertainment as it was only on for 45 minutes each night.

First off .. It's a beautiful hotel
With amazing staff . They go out of their way to take care of you . Benito, Neysi, dolphino, and basically all the waiters were the best . Very outgoing , knew me and my husband by names , and very helpful . Great workers , from the restraunts , to waitress and waiters , beach staff , housekeeping and more . The buffet didn't have such a big variety I expected more and wish they had a lot more seafood . Great entertainment staff , we truly loved Dio , Jorge, and Malena so much. They are so sweet, hard working , and caring , and outgoing :)! Overall we had an amazing time and beautiful beach side !

Travelled with one teen with food allergies. Found it a bit out if the way from most areas of interest. Beach not the best but has staff that tries very hard to please.
Liked the well manicured grounds. The two pools are adequate. Food choices were acceptable.
