We stayed at the Dreams, Tulum in April 2013. See our review back in 2013. We were looking for a resort to take our 3 adult children to for a vacation. We started our research and as everyone knows the internet descriptions do not always display the real picture. After looking and researching the various resorts we decided to go back to the resort we had experience with. Our 8 days (May 9th - 17th) was as good if not better than our April 2013 vacation.
The staff is great, they go out of their way to make sure you are happy and are a great group of people.
The rooms are very nice and comfortable. We ate breakfast daily at the buffet; it was good with lots of options. One of the better buffets I have eaten at. We ate lunch at Seaside Grill and El Patio. Our lunches were very nice; better than chain restaurant food (Chili’s, Applebee’s, and the like). We ate dinner at Portofino, Bordeaux, Seaside Grill and El Patio. The food is like a very good local restaurant better than chain restaurants.
Dreams Tulum lived up to our experience from April 2013. Will we go back? YES! Will we look at other resorts in that area? No as we know this is a great resort and the internet description is accurate.
You will read about people saying they got sick eating the food, after watching some of the people at the resort the sickness might have been due to alcohol consumption and or too much sun.

This resort was good there were 66 of us that were there and everyone had a different experience. I can't complain about our stay. My family of 4 stayed in the garden suite with 2 double beds and a couch area. The beds were a little hard however, you can upgrade to plush beds. The 24 hour room service was wonderful. The movies by pool side was a nice bonus. The people were very friendly and attentive to the kids my favorite waitress was Neysi she was by the pool areas, tell her I said hi. We also recieved a visit from Armando Coda he is a mentalist he is a must see, he will blow your socks off. Very beautiful and well maintained resort. The red flag for the ocean was pretty much up the whole time we stayed there but we are fine being in the pools. We would definely visit a Dreams resort again.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room closer to pool especially with little ones and I wouldn't recommend a r...

The resort is beautiful, excellent service staff are always smiling and made us feel at home..unlimited beach towels all day,no bracelet tags, free long distance to canada and u.s.,24 hours room service during our lazy days, rooms cleaned twice a day, check out was quick no papers needed at the front desk, beach is beatific,,a 15 mnt walk to the left will take you to a cave and cost 35peso to get in... The not so good part,, during our arrival the pressure sale starts but we kindly refused and it was fine,,front desk staff we're always friendly..the conceirge lady was an angel, she called our pick up for our departure hotel to airport and took her less than 5 mnts...but be very aware of the westjet representative as he was very rude, and made us run to our room to get our papers so he can print the voucher for pick up,, we did exactly that but he said we'll have to wait as he's busy,, with other clients and was so unprofessional.. We figured we deserved that kind of treatment as we didn't see him from the beginning for all our excursions... We ended up going 4 times and all he had to do was print out a little receipt took him 1 mnt.. Luckily the concierge looked after us... Westjet management needs to address this as we will not allow our friends and families to be treated that way,,other than that the whole trip was fantastic met a lot of people from the U.s. And europe

Over all the hotel was fine Junior suite excellent, food average, entertainment poor for adults. Stayed in Dreams Punta Cana a couple of times and it was much better. However we had € 50 stolen from our safe on the last night. Reported it to the security at reception at checkout. We filled in a form with Safe Security man, looked like he had done lots of times before and it was no big deal to him . Still waiting from hotel with explanation nearly 2 weeks now. No follow up ???
Little tip. We had money stolen from our safe in 5 star hotel in Rome few years ago so now we write what ever cash is in wallet and purse every day its left in safe.

We went for my daughter's destination wedding for a week in May 2014. From the moment we arrived (including the comfortable transportation on air conditioned luxury bus from the airport), the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We asked to change rooms because ours was situated far from everyone else in our group of 48 and our request was accommodated without issue and the move was hassle-free. Anytime we called the front desk, whatever we asked for was at our room almost as soon as we hung up! The rooms are clean, include blow dryer, iron, ironing board, big umbrella, soaps and lotion, free mini bar (well-stocked with bottled water, soft drinks and Corona!), good sized safe (no charge), and are very quiet with very comfortable beds - important after a day at the beach! There are two pools (one is salt water and the other has a swim-up bar), although I personally didn't use either since I preferred to swim in the sea. There is a private beach right in front of the resort (no need to reserve chairs, you can ask for as many towels as you want and there is no one walking by to sell you something) with service provided from the bar or restaurants. We walked a little way along the white sand beach to swim in front of an undeveloped area and found a private piece of paradise! The resort is small enough to easily get from place to place and find everyone we travelled with and big enough to offer a number of places to hide out for some private time.

My favourite things about this resort include: (1) No wrist bands required - the entrance to the resort is gated with 24/7 manned security - which was really nice so we didn't all have to wear some fluorescent coloured "jewelry" in the wedding photos and then end up with tan lines around it. (2) No reservations needed for the restaurants for dinner! This is what usually makes me dislike the all-inclusive experience - who likes getting up early on vacation and having to decide what you want for dinner before even having breakfast?! There is the World Cafe that offers a full, fresh buffet with every food option available for all meals, except dinner on special event days when it's closed - on Tuesday, there was a barbecue dinner outside behind the building and, on Friday, there was a Mexican Fiesta dinner with live entertainment. We ate at every restaurant and all were great - the Italian restaurant seemed to be the most popular (this is the only one we had to wait for a table - they use a pager system so you can wander around until your table is ready) and offers a wine tasting event that allows you to tour the wine cellar. Other restaurants include French (there is a dress code in place for both French - no children allowed here - and Italian restaurants), Asian, sushi bar, Mexican (fantastic guacamole with tortilla chips and goat cheese salad), Seaside Grill (we had lunch here and it is outdoors with a view of the sea and has an amazing menu), and the Barefoot Grill is poolside and offers hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, nachos, etc., for a quick bite. And, if you don't feel like going anywhere to eat, room service is available 24/7 at no extra charge! I'm a problem to feed because I'm a vegetarian and must have a gluten-free diet. I had no difficulty finding a variety of foods to eat (all the menus identify both vegetarian and gluten-free meals) and was even given a gluten-free brownie for dessert after one of our meals! And it was delicious!!! In addition to the restaurants, there are three bars (the mixed drinks are great, served in real glasses unless you want it "to go", and so is the house red wine from Chile), a cigar lounge, a sports bar that offers typical bar snacks like chicken wings (many of us watched the playoff hockey games between Montreal and Boston, some watched the Toronto Blue Jays or basketball, all on big screens), a smoothie bar (delicious and refreshing after a swim, but takes some time to read through the many concoctions available!) and the Coco Cafe, which offers all types of coffees and sweet treats in a wonderful, large room where you can sit quietly out of the sun and heat to read or check e-mail messages. Which brings me to favourite thing number (3) that secured Wifi is FREE and is reliably available everywhere on the resort - even the beach! This allowed us to stay connected (only had to log in once) with each other without worrying about any roaming fees.

For other things to do, there is a tour operator on site offering a number of reasonably priced excursions. I only opted to tour the ruins at Tulum and this was a nice half-day away to explore the ruins and public beach that was only about a ten minute drive away from the resort. There is different entertainment offered each night (both live and a nightly movie projected by the pool), a children's day camp and babysitting services available (charges apply), water sports (kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving with lessons provided every day, etc. - no extra charges). Just walking around the resort is amazing - the gardens are meticulously maintained and there are signs posted to explain the different plants and animals found roaming around - such as iguana, coati, and too many types of birds to mention here. We also saw a fairly large crab dug into a hole, which until he came out, we thought was a tarantula (whew!) and a couple of stingrays while swimming.

And there is the spa! I didn't use it at all myself, but those who did said they really enjoyed it. The spa did all of the bridesmaids' hair for the wedding and my daughter's manicure and make-up, which was done to perfection. My daughter and son-in-law were also treated to massages the day after the wedding and said the experience was wonderful.

As for the wedding, everything went perfectly. Anabel, the wedding planner assigned to my daughter, couldn't have been more helpful and attended to every detail and special request. The ceremony took place at the beach and then we moved to a banquet hall for the reception and some entertainment by a Mariachi band. The hors d'oeuvres and three-course sit-down dinner were delicious and the service excellent. The bouquet and all of the other flowers (for bridal party and centre pieces) were gorgeous and just exactly as pictured in the catalogue provided in advance to order from. And the photographer was absolutely outstanding! He took amazing photos and stayed longer to take advantage of the exceptional light at the beach as the sun was setting. The prints are gorgeous and my daughter and new son-in-law look so beautiful and happy.

After this first-time stay at a Dreams resort, I would definitely consider this the best all-inclusive experience I have ever had and wouldn't hesitate to stay with Dreams again.

Room Tip: We experienced two rooms, both garden views and both on the upper (second) floor. Our first room was...

My family recently stayed at the Dreams resort and spa in tulum. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The beach had white soft sand and had a good swimming area. Some areas in the ocean are rocky but its well marked on where the nice sandy swim area is. They had people working throughout the day to clear seaweed, rocks and other debris that the ocean brought ashore to keep it beautiful. The food was wonderful at all restaurants although we did not eat at the sushi/japenese place. Both pools were cleaned daily and both at good temps. Our rooms were 1025 and 1026 just off the lobby. Both were very neat and clean and very quiet. The staff went above and beyond to make the stay one of a kind even going as far as remember what you liked to drink. Limberth at the lobby bar makes the best drinks and is one of the friendliest, although all the staff is extremly friendly. To avoid getting sick just drink the bottled water and brush your teeth with bottled water. The restaurant water is also from bottles so its safe. If i had a complaint it would be towards the other tourist staying there over doing it with alcohol and being extremly obnoxious. I would highly recommend staying here and would come back in a heart beat.

Room Tip: Get a room not by the pools. The suites off the lobby are top notch!

Dreams Tulum is a resort that is situated in a remote beach that has such character and vivid water that you can't help but relax. My best friend and I travel on a girls trip every year and switched from a cheaper resort in Playa del Carmen to Dreams Tulum. We both work in high stress jobs and want to relax, have exceptional service and decent food.

Upon our arrival, our room was ready. The resort is small, so the rooms are all close to everything. We had a bite to eat at The Patio, which offers local, Mexican cuisine. The staff bent over backwards to be of service.

There are two pools, one for the groups that want more of an upbeat party and one that is much more mellow and is called the relaxation pool. There are two separate areas of huts and chairs that are shaded by palm trees. It wasn't hard to find a nice place to sit. The servers circled by every 15 min or so to get us drinks and water.

The restaurants are just fine for an all-inclusive, great decor and the food was good. The CoCo Cafe was a great alternative to grab a cappuccino in a beautifully decorated lounge.

Each night there were events and always people out and about. The atmosphere wasn't crazy partying, it was much more mellow and fun. Most of the guests were American and Canadian and very friendly.

We will go back next year!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms at this resort!
