“Beautiful Villa, Perfect Location, Great Staff”
Reviewed February 16, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Fantastic villa in a perfect location. Private and quiet on a beautiful protected bay and only 10 minutes from downtown Tulum. Villa is more beautiful and spacious than the pictures show. Located only steps from a great beach bar restaurant (Blue Sky) with great food (pizza and mojitos are great!), the villa offers everything you would want for an outstanding family vacation. It was a great house for five adults and two small children. The bedrooms are huge and it was a treat to wake up to the beautiful sunrises! The separate casita is perfect for guests that may want a little more privacy. The beach is nice but very rocky getting into the water so the kids played in the sand rather than in the water. It's quiet with not many people walking the beach and NO jet skis, boats, or loud music. The dive shop is just a few steps down the beach (and next to another great beach restaurant) and offer a great snorkeling trip for the family as well as scuba dives. Ask the owner of the dive shop to take your family for a boat trip to the Tulum Myan ruins. A beautiful view from the water. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need (we had a chef come and cook dinner three of the nights...great idea) and has a very nice bar area for drinks and appetizers. The pool is big but not heated so the water was almost too cold to swim and it has a huge hot tub attached but it also is not heated. (The ocean was actually warmer than the pool.) There is a huge new supermarket in town with everything you would want including an outstanding selection of liquor and wine.
I can't say enough about Marian, our concierge, she was there to greet us when we arrived and stopped by several times. Our wonderful maid that kept the villa spotless everyday and always made sure we had clean bath and beach towels. Our groundskeeper, Ernesto, kept the grounds and pool deck beautiful. He even climbed the palm trees to get us coconuts and chopped them open for us. Also enjoyed watching the two Iguanas that live under the pool deck near the house. Wifi is available throughout the house and even out at the pool. The only problem we has was no hot water for two days.
Communication with the owner and Marian was fantastic and compared to other villas in the area, Casa Paloma is a bargain. You won't be disappointed. We will definitely try to come back again.

“A slice of heaven”
Reviewed February 14, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We stayed at Villa Paloma with our 3 children and 2 of their friends (ages 19-24) for a week in January. The location was picturesque and it was wonderful having so much space to relax in, the pool and the beach just footsteps away. The staff makes everything so easy and they are a pleasure to deal with. What really made the week perfect was having Victoria cook all our meals and having all the shopping done for us. We met with Antonio to discuss all of the meals (and we had a variety of food allergy issues to deal with which was no problem whatsoever) and he handled all of the shopping. We did go out for one dinner and the food was not half as good as what we had back at the house. There are 3 bedrooms in the house and there is a separate structure with a bedroom &bathroom that we used as well. The accommodations in the separate structure are not as nice as those in the main house, but definitely adequate and clean. If I had one constructive comment to offer it would be for the owner to upgrade the linens and towels in the house as they seemed a little old and worn. But we had a fantastic stay. Marion was very helpful to deal with leading up to our arrival in terms of coordinating plans and getting information. All in all, a great experience and we would highly recommend a stay at Villa Paloma.

“Fabulous, Comfortable home with fantastic views”

We stayed here to celebrate our children finishing their time at university, our 30 th anniversary, my husband's 60th birthday and the completion of my master's degree. The time with family was so precious in a place this beautiful and comfortable. We felt it was our home. The art, the home design, the stained glass, the pool, the secluded beach made you feel so relaxed, so blessed and totally removed from any concerns.
Then there was the excellent staff, Yani , the home cleaner was lovely, helpful and really the epitome of mexican people; kind, helpful and so nice, Ernesto, the outside man, diligent and efficient and finally Mariane, the French speaking consultant.
My husband is from Quebec but we live in Alberta, Canada so he loves to find some French people. She was so helpful, informative and personable.

There are three bedrooms in the main house, two have views of the, ocean and master baths. The casita has a suite that is private but no view-lovely for teenagers or those who want privacy. The is a beautiful part of the Tulum area. We would come back in a minute. The weather was great but not above 30 degrees in January. The kayaking was lovely. Our daughter, her boyfriend and our son were our every day.

“Beautiful home, beautiful beach, loved our week at Villa Paloma”
Reviewed January 19, 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We spent a week at the house with our grown kids and their significant others, and our 6 month old grandbaby. It is really a 3 bedroom house with 2 of the bedrooms sharing a bathroom. A bathroom on the main level, and a separate Casita with a king bed and bathroom. It all worked out great for our family, but just so you know the casita and 4th bedroom are separate from the house. The house was beautiful, and the pool was a great addition to have. We snorkeled right out in front of the house and saw lots of fish. The location is great. You can walk to a Cenote, and two small hotels/restaurants. The sand is fine and beautiful, but the beach here is very rocky as there is reef and coral everywhere (making for the great snorkeling). The caretaker kept the beach very nice, and raked and cleaned up seaweed every day. The chef service was great to have. We had it twice, and had them each make lots of extra guac, pico and ceviche that we enjoyed for days after. They also made lots of drinks for us, and it was a treat to have them there. The housekeeper took great care of the house and everything always looked very nice. We went to Coba one day, and Akumal another. Also spent some time in Tulum, and enjoyed it all. Marion was great with ideas on where to go, where to eat, etc. Our son and his girlfriend rented a scooter in town one day also, and had fun touring around town. This was our first visit to this side of Mexico, and we really enjoyed the house and the area.

“Most beautiful home on Tankah Bay!”

We rented Villa Paloma for the month of March. We had never rented a vacation home in the past so we were somewhat hesitant. The owner lives in the USA and he was easy to reach for all my questions and was very responsive. The pictures give you an idea of what the home looks like and it was so funny to sit at the pool or on the beach and people walking by would stop and ask about the house and comment on its beauty and would say they were renting a home nearby for more money that wasn't nearly as luxurious. This made us feel as though we selected the right house. We loved the fact that the maintenance/pool guy lives on site. He locked the iron gates each night and opened them in the morning. He was busy cleaning the pool by 7:30 AM and keeps the grounds and the homes exterior maintenance meticulous . He was very sweet and we felt well taken care of. The cleaning lady comes every day and was a lovely women who does an excellent job. She knew my daughter was celebrating a birthday and used her own money to buy a birthday banner and decorated her room with the banner and fresh flowers. The staff at the house are so responsive and requests are answered immediately and repairs are made the same day. If a light bulb needs to be replaced it gets done.

We opted to hire a chef service for 4 days a week while we were there and it was money well spent. We used Tulum Chef and Victoria cooked for us. Fabulous!

Here are some additional things we liked about the homes location. A short walk down the road to two different PADI certified dive centers. My son and I did our open water dives with Tankah Divers and had one on one instruction. Amazing!

There are several good restaurants right down the road from the house and you can walk down the beach or road to get to them. Take a flashlight to walk the beach or road at night. The town of Tulum is a short and easy drive and has many shops and restaurants and an amazing public beach and several banks and large grocery stores.

There is a freshwater cenote across the street that was beautiful and clean and refreshing. You can snorkel, scuba or rent kayaks. This is a must do if you are in the area and very inexpensive. They do rent snorkel equipment but we prefer to bring our own.

Every day at Villa Paloma we used the kayaks at the house to go out in the Caribbean. We used our metal detector, walked the beach, collected shells, snorkeled in the ocean and swam in the pool. At night we would sit on the beach chairs with a cocktail and gaze at the blanket of stars above.

This was one of the most relaxing vacations my family has ever taken. A completely different experience than an all-inclusive. We wanted to truly unwind and escape and we could not have asked for a better home to do it in.

We will certainly rent Villa Paloma whenever we vacation in Tulum.
