My friend and I spent a few nights at this nice posada the end of October. We had a nice little clean house with two beds and a private bathroom and a porch with a hamoc. The location is beautiful, a few colored houses in a nice peaceful garden and a restaurant with a sand floor next to the beach and at night beautifully lit with candles. Great and friendly young staff who were very kind and helpful. Nice food and drinks at the restaurant and we we're able to negotiate a good price. There is wifi as well and a cute chocolate colored labrador. It was hard to leave this little paradise.

We just spent one week at Dos Ceibas in Tulum, Mexico for an Ashtanga yoga retreat. All in all, Dos Ceibas is a pleasant and relaxed, with a beachy, hippy vibe.

The front desk staff were very accommodating and quick to help. I would say the restaurant could be a bit more efficient in terms of remembering what you wondered and delivering the food in a timely manner. But all things considered, I was very satisfied with my time here.

Low-key, easy going, not at all pretentious like some of the other places along the beach, Dos Ceibas is a perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon on a hammock to watch the waves roll in and out.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite on the top floor of the pink building has an amazing balcony!

My girlfriend and I just got back from 6 days staying here. I would definitely recommend Dos Ceibas to anyone looking to stay in Tulum. Our experience might be different since we went during the low season, but I enjoyed the quiet beaches and lack of American tourists (which both of us are).

What Dos Ceibas offers is the perfect paradise beach setting, with minimal accommodations, at an affordable price. If you are looking to relax on the beach all day, take a short walk for your meals and be within driving/biking distance to everything Tulum has, than you'll do we'll here. The cabanas don't have A/C and aren't the nicest spaces, but your in the shade of the jungle and the only time spent here is when your sleeping.

Luca provided us with great recommendations for places to eat (if you don't go to El Camelo Jr in Tulum Centre at least 3 times your missing out), very cool excursions to go on at Sian Ka'an, Coba and Cenotes; and was all around helpful throughout our stay.

It's been five months since our trip to Dos Ceibas and we're still talking about our great time there. We went for our 15th anniversary and stayed for 7 nights. The Boquinete bungalow worked great for us because it's close to the beach and right next to the restaurant so the wifi stretched into our room. We enjoyed their continental breakfast every day and naturally got to know the staff and a few people staying there as well, so we ended up hanging out in the restaurant area quite a bit in the late evenings.

The staff was very pleasant. Luca (in particular) acted as a concierge for us and always served us with a genuine smile. The facility was maintained very well. Our room was cleaned everyday and the beach was kept tidy as well. My wife was surprised how much she enjoyed the sacred dance class.

Our typical day started with a walk on the beach (usually into Sian Kaan) followed by a very nice breakfast with homemade bread and jelly, fresh OJ, and excellent coffee. After a few days, we acclimated to the slower pace and took our time with breakfast to check email and keep up with news back home. Gradually, we'd make our way to the beach where I would bodyboard and my wife would read. For lunch we'd go into town to see what we could find. We didn't have a bad meal all week! Our afternoons were spent back on the beach. In the evenings we would walk to restaurants on the beach and come back to Dos Ceibas for drinks in the restaurant area. The food at Dos Ceibas is very good but we tried other places as well.

The rooms don't have air conditioning but there's a fan. Bring a book light if you want to read in your room after the sun goes down. The water from the shower is brackish. This place is on the beach, so sand is everywhere. You'll see plenty of wildlife all around.

We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our week there. It's very relaxing but not posh. It's earthy, laid back, but well kept. It was the perfect getaway for us. We'll be back.

We were really happy with this Place and stayed longer than we have planned it because of The Atmosphere and The beautiful Appartments. It was pretty lonely at that Time of The Sessions as all The places there but we always felt welcomed as if we stayed at our Friends House! It is Easy to relax at DOS ceibas, have a margarita at least Once a Day!

I never see such a bad place like this one!!! Tree dogs were every day on the beach, destroy it, make their pipí and popo in this amazing beach...

The owner doesn't care of nothing even if we asked her to take care of her dogs as we have a little baby who was in troj le with the dogs as they jumped on our baby and our baby was crying...

Once, early in the morning, we went to the beach and saw 3 Syringues... Incredible when you play with your baby on the beach...

The clientele, with a lots of tatoos, dred locks (dark hippies) smoke all day and put their cigarets on the beach...

There is not enough long chairs so half of the clientele goes to another private place to find a chair on the beach (which is completely forbitten....)

Sooooo bad, sooooo dark, amazing that it is not already closed!!!

Room Tip: Nothing, go far from this place

We stayed at Dos Ceibas in July - it was an authentic, relaxed and rewarding Mexican experience. I would go back again.

But to level set the expectations:
1) all the pathways are sand, which feels great on bare feet, but it's difficult to keep from tracking it into your palapa (and bed)
2) Your palapa is fully screened, which invites an ocean breeze and helps to keep insects out, but bugs will still get into your place.
3) Dos Ceibas is towards the end of road before entering the biological reserve - it's not a problem if you have your own car, but you may feel a bit restricted to only the local (and more expensive) restaurants if your only option is a taxi.

Like I said, I enjoyed my stay and would go back. The beach is amazing and you'll have a unique experience.

Now for some Dos Ceibas and Tulum Travel Tips:
1) bring a flashlight for the beach. I usually walked with it off, but it's easy to lose track of where you're at and a flashlight helps.
2) if you're there in the summer months, bring a flashlight with a red lens. The sea turtles nest in the summer months and you can see and watch them (without scaring them) if your flashlight has a red lens.
3) bring your snorkel gear - a reef is about 50 meters straight out, and has some decent snorkeling if it's not too choppy.
4) if you want a delicious, inexpensive and safe Mexican meal, go to TacoQueta in Tulum. It's towards the south end of town, is amazingly tasty and you'll probably be the only gringo.
5) there's an ATM in Tulum at the HSBC
6) if you want to swim at a non-touristy cenote, got to Cristal and Escondido south of town. When we went, it was all to ourselves.

Please let me know if this review was helpful.
