Quiet beachside paradise set amongst jungly trees, sandy paths and a towering ceiba tree, just steps from the most perfect sand, wind and turquoise waters. Stayed in the lower unit closest to the beach, Boquinetes, which is a lovely round unit with chairs and a hammock out front and lots of ocean breeze. Delicious breakfasts with great coffee and bread to go with it. Wished we could have stayed for a long, long time.

Rented bicycles and rode to the Tulum ruins, eating along the way. OM has particularly amazing food and setting, and is an easy walk down the beach barefoot. One night we discovered hundreds of baby turtles hatching out of a hole in the sand - going every which way across our feet! Flashlight helped see what all the commotion was! Unbelievable! Baby turtles everywhere! Ended up helping a local "turtle guardian" round them up and help them find the water. The lights from the hotels, though few and far between down this end of the beach, are enough to confuse their sense of direction. Learned this and much more.

Love Dos Ceibas and would love to return someday.

This was a really peaceful place to hang out for the last few days of a rather hectic holiday, at the quiet end of Tulum. The beach and the sea are a few steps from the restaurant, and there are comfy loungers/seats and shade at both. The comfortable bedrooms are in thatched cabanas set among trees and plants, so it feels like your in a jungle. The food was freshly cooked to order, and there was home bread and pizza every day. The staff were really friendly and helpful in an unintrusive way. You could do yoga with a teacher on the beach in the early morning and have a massage anytime. The only negatives were no a/c (but it's an eco-hotel, solar powered, so it's worth being hot!) and food portions a little small.

Room Tip: Ask for one near the sea; the sea breeze will keep you cooler.

I stayed in the Mariposa Bungalow with my family and absolutely loved it. We all felt as we were home. The staff was nice and courteous. the food was very good. I have to say I loved the mattresses, it's the first time I slept out of my house and did not wake up with a backache. These are rustic cabanas, so if you don't like being green this is not the place for you. Special thanks to Leticia for being so attentive and Rogelio for chatting with my husband and teaching him about the Mayan culture. Elvira (the owner) I truly love what you are doing for the environment every little detail counts!.... Definitely will be coming back!!!

Dreamy place for taking time out of time...small, rustic, simple, no TV, AC, just amazing beach, big waves with not too much undertow, warm turquoise water, sand floor dining room, great place for spiritual retreat, romantic getaway, creative renewal. Lots of activities available nearby, snorkeling in Cenotes, exploring Mayan ruins, many restaurants up and down the beach walking distance to go to for cocktails, dinner and dancing, Friendly accommodating staff and owner. This is the perfect place to do yoga, paint, run on the beach. Reasonably priced, lots of charm, lovingly whimsically decorated, clean, but not fancy. Downside, has technical problems sometimes, with not enough water pressure for showers and food is good but not gourmet. Great massage available, as well as sweat lodge right on the edge of the beach.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Ocelote bungalow for two nights in Nov of 2010. The staff was nice, but the bungalow gave off a dirty vibe.

The only thing I need to say about this place is bedbugs. My feet and legs were covered with the most painful bites after our stay here. I mentioned this to the reception desk, and they tried to tell me they were some other sort of bite, but having had bedbug bites before from the dirtiest hotel in NYC (Hotel Carter), I knew what they were. We changed to the Om Tulum, which was much nicer (and bedbug free!). Stay at your own risk.

This place is incredible if you want to get away from the world. It feels like it is in the middle of no-where and that's just fine with me.

Tulum and in particular this accommodation is about a 2 hour drive away from the airport. We got transport with Best Day Travel who dropped us off and picked as up for about $100. Well worth using them if you're going to Tulum and don't fancy public transport. We were here for 5 days and had good intentions on venturing out abd about about after a long road trip in the US we did not venture very far, but I understand the ruins are about a 15/20 minute drive down the coastal road. There are noit many other restaurants nearby other than some along the beach. Zebra had yummy food.

Dos Ceibas is a fantastic little place made up of about 15 stone cabanas. They are rustic and will not be to everyone's taste but if you prefer something a little more natural, without a TV/aircon and can deal with the odd insect then I really recommend this place. The location and beach is just stunning. The cabanas are set back from the beach and surrounding by vegetation (hence the insects). They are individually decorated in bright colours, have their own bathroom, electricity after dusk (usually turned off during the day) and a fan for the hot nights. Some of the beds are suspended from the roof beams and covered with a mosquito net, so it can feel like you are at sea sometimes. Suggest bringing a torch for the night time as it gets very dark about.

Breakfast is not included but is reasonably priced. You can get fresh juice, fruit, eggs cooked in various ways and yoghurt. The coffee was delicious! The biggest disappointment with this place is the dinners which aren't great for the price. The service was also really slow as there was only one cook but didn't mind waiting so much given the location and there really is nothing else to do. If they could have improved on the food this place would have a got a 5 stars from me.

This is an eco friendly place that cares about its footprint and it's a great place to stay. It is a little far away from anything else so be prepared for that, or just do what we did and don't move for 5 days!

We have come to Dos Ceibas for the past 3 years. Each year I've brought a group of students for a yoga retreat. The staff at Dos Ceibas takes great care of us! The food is wonderful, the rooms comfortable and the beaches spectacular. We're booked again for 2012!
