Sitting at Cancun airport, waiting for the flight, after enjoying 11 days at Suenos.

ARRIVAL
+Suenos had arranged for transfer in Miguel’s comfortable van. Arriving after a long day of traveling there was nothing nicer than to be greeted by the whole family! They were all barefoot…and from then on: we got it – we are at the beach - on vacation! It was already dark and the colorful lights and candles all over the property were magical. We were helped to our rooms and Elisabeth gave us some first information, a welcome drink and we are settled into our new home.
We had heard before that we could only move into our Junior Suite the next day but Elisabet and Giovanna had moved things around so we did not have to move at all.
That night there was a wedding party happening at Suenos. It was beautifully decorated, the set up very magical.

SEUENOS ATMOSPHERE + more
+You can see and feel that this resort was created within a vision. There is the unique style of the buildings. The Mayan images. The names and colors of each of the five buildings. This property is full of personal touches. Beautiful too is the way the landscape is kept. It is wild and natural and at the same time you see Jorge keeping it all sooooo clean and clear. All day long, as you pass by, you see how the family is taking care of their place. At the same time they are available for a request, a question or a chat.
I saw people being very engaged with the owners and others going their own way the whole time. It did not seem as if the guests were connecting with each other much. It was mostly couples while were there that were having a quiet, relaxing time.
The RECEPTION area is always open and you will find many books and magazines there to read, you can also charge your phones and computer there.
It seemed extremely safe on this property. There are the dogs who sound alarm. The owner family lives on the property. There are safes in each room. Finally only the hotel guests are allowed on the property.
Overall the atmosphere is relaxed and natural. There is a sense of silence and caring.

ROOMS
+ If you love a light, bright, friendly, spacious feel Suenos is for you. I love looking at houses and spent quite some time looking at rooms all along Tulum beach. There was only one other place as light. Most places are darker, often damp and nowhere did I see the same standard of bedding.
I looked at every single room in Suenos and found them all lovely and of course very unique both in color and view. Many rooms have a hammock either in the room or on the balcony. They all provide a little desk and two chairs inside as well.
VIEW: Only the two beach level rooms do not have a direct ocean view. Everywhere else it is breathtaking. Especially because you have sliding doors AND two round windows on both other walls. That means nearly 360 views. …The top floors have a big king bed, super high ceilings (closed: meaning no mosquitoes, lots of storage space and as you are so high up –best views. We stayed in a junior suite- with two beds. Great views as well. I loved lying in bed and looking out the round windows…
BEDS: They just got plush, soft, high mattresses. We had some cold night so we also were happy to have such nice quality blankets. There were three choices - all different thickness.
ELECTRICITY: Goes on at 6.00 pm. We found the light bright enough for reading. We had brought a battery operated reading light that was nice when we wanted to enjoy the full moon light AND read.
BATHROOMS: Sooo cute. Hand painted tiles, plants etc…All Bathrooms have warm water at all times. Organic toiletries and fresh towels daily.
_ The one minus I found was that the balconies were small. You can tell that they are part of the design of the buildings but we would have liked to spread out more. Also when it was raining it dripped from the above balcony down on us. On another note I would have liked more than the 7 hangers. I did not ask for more. Knowing the owners they would have arranged for them.

BEACH
+Suenos is located on the south end of the long stretch of Tulum beach. It is slightly around the bed from the middle part and this gives it a very private and serene feel. On either side of Suenos the two properties are just empty jungle and this enhances the sense of spaciousness even more. The sand is the softest I have ever seen/felt. There is a lot of shade. Both from two palm trees (the one single one – very close to the ocean- being so picturesque) and the great daybeds that were built. This area does not have lots of the big palm trees on the beach. There are other places down the beach more romantic in that way. No need to worry about not finding a place to lie down. Lots of lounge chairs and beds. Suenos was booked out some of the time we were there and it never feels full or crowded.
The ocean changed every day. From wild waves and wind to serene waters. There are boogie boards and plastic canoes to enjoy provided as well.
No beach vendors that disturb you all along the beach!
- There is no snorkeling at Tulum Beach. There is a bit at the north end near Maya Tulum.
+You can walk and walk and walk. To the right/south you are walking towards LESS: less restaurants, less people, less buildings till you get to Sian Kaan and there is only the beach and jungle (- sadly there was some plastic rubbish on the beach there) To the left you find MORE: more food choices, more houses to look at, more people on the beach. It takes about an hour walk till you get to the end of this part of the Beach and reach Maya Tulum.

Which brings me to my most important part of my review and turned out to be the most enjoyable part of our day:

DOGS
+I had read about it in a review: that the dogs know who is part of Suenos and not and that they leave you alone if you want but like attention too. I also read that they came along for a walk along the beach. All is true. The first time it happened spontaneously. All three: Nero, Seba and Molly followed us south and came back home with us. We are early risers and would go for an hours walk towards Sian Kaan (this is the only way the dogs will go) around 7.00 am. This was my favorite part of the day. From then on it was a ritual to call the dogs that are soooooo happy to go- and off we went. The morning light, the untouched beach and the dogs running along ahead, sniffing, chasing and playing – it was so much fun.

FOOD
+ Suenos has a quaint little Restaurant in a palapa style building that has great views over the ocean. Only the hotel guests eat here. It is very personable and they are very accommodating to any wishes you may have- like everything at Suenos. We let the reception know the day before a couple of times that we would like to eat a whole fish. These meals were the best we had! The fish so fresh and all the side dishes and decoration that came with it just delicious and great to look at too. All the other meals we had were good. Try the taco de pescado.
Breakfast is included. You can sit anywhere on the many seating areas around the property and enjoy your meal. Fruit is plenty and so tasty. - Black tea is awful. (Bring your own if you are a tea lover.) Herb teas are good. Granola and yoghurt are realllly good.– We did long for some fresh bread, instead of the packaged cakes some mornings. +Anytime you want a snack or a drink Francisco and Mateo will bring everything to you, including to the beach or your favorite hammock.
RESTAURANTS: +To the south: Only Las Ranitas is close by to the right- if you are walking. They have a stunningly romantic seating area, under palm trees outside and if it is too windy they can close parts off. They are at the higher end price wise. To the north: You can easily walk to S+S, OM Restaurant and Casa Violeta. Next would be La Zebra. We went for Pizza and Lunch both at OM and Casa Violeta. Both places, are on the beach, have a lot of charm and are more affordable. My husband is Italian and even he said the pizza was really well done. Both S+S and Las Zebra look like they have nice seating but we never made it there.
It is nice to bring a flashlight for walking along the road for safety and for the beach at night.
-Note that the food is expensive on Tulum Beach. There are a lot of great places to eat in Tulum town at half the price. We loved Le Bistro, a French place. Best meat I had in years…and we also enjoyed eating at La Nave- Italian food.
As you walk further along the beach there are many restaurants. Enjoyed hanging out at Villa Estrella- all in white with wicker furniture- it is like out of a beach dream sitting there. Once we walked for an hour, to the north of the beach and enjoyed a great meal at Hemingway. The cook is from Italy and the food is fantastico!

TAXI
As you can tell, we like walking but also took the taxi in the evenings. It is 80-100 pesos to get to Tulum town. We would just start walking down the road and there are many taxis coming along. Getting back is easy too- just agree on the amount beforehand as prices go up later at night.

YOGA
+ There is Yoga offered every day at 8.30 am. It happens in an amazing palapa, in the middle of the jungle, on the property itself. The palapa smells of wood and leaves and has an incredible atmosphere. Yoga mats are provided. I thought the teacher, I am going to write her name wrong, E……, is very good. She is able to attune to the different levels of students and creates a great class. I went for 7 of her classes and they were a highlight of my stay as Suenos.

WEATHER
This is January and apparently we were quite unlucky with the amount of rain and cloudy days. I had read about the wind. What was interesting was how it changed every day. There were days it was so extremely windy and the next day it was so much less. There were calm and windy nights. It was fascinating to watch the kite surfers speeding along with the wind on the waves. Most surprising was that as soon as you are away from the ocean there is no wind. I can imagine that you appreciate the wind more in the hot season. Elisabeth had mentioned that the two higher up rooms are best during the hot season.
We did end up with quite a few sunny days.

THE END
This vacation was wonderful, relaxing, intimate, interesting , rejuvenating and nourishing.
We can full heartedly recommend staying at Suenos if you like being away from the crowds, love beauty and serenity and enjoy a personable and still professional hotel that offers individuated service, tasty and fresh food in a silent and unique ambiance.

Not enough good things can be said about Sueños Tulum. It's one of the best hotel experiences my wife and I have ever had. It really in the dream!

The location is one of the best in Tulum, at the end of Tulum beach, somewhat secluded, so you can really enjoy the atmosphere. It's quiet and the rooms are to die for (at least the one we stayed at - the Luna room on the 2nd floor). A bed located just behind a massive panorama window of the private beach areas which is raked clear of seaweed and other stuff every other day and clear blue water. You can see the sunrise and sunset from the rooms making it a dream to wake up every morning. We went in the water every morning with Pelikans diving into the water right next to us for fish. Amazing!

The hotel in itself is charmingly created, with small details like clamshell in string hanging around the premises, and outdoor bathroom where the handles are shells.

We did yoga with the owners while we were there in the huge Palappa which was nice. The owners were really helpful in organizing a trip to nearby Si'an Ka'an nature reserve, which was awesome (do that while you are there).

They also had free bikes which we used to bike to the Ruins of Tulum (30min bike ride, longer than we expected ;)), and free kayaks to go snorkeling in the reefs. Also, while laying in the lovely chairs on the beach, the service guy while fetch you drinks and snacks and table to put them on all day. He will also serve your breakfast anywhere on the premises - we had it on a table right next to the beach with both of us overlooking the beach - VERY beautiful and relaxing!

Note: the hotel is kinda "eco-chic", so all electricity comes from solar panels and therefore there is no electricity during the day except in the reception area. It's not a problem and you can always recharge your electronic stuff in the reception where there is tons of plugs.

Do yourself a favor and look no further for a hotel, this is *THE* hotel you want to stay at - I promise you. It has it all for a romantic, relaxing time, also if you have kids. The ones who where there when we were there were loving it!

I loved this place from the moment I walked in the door. The owner was a very friendly woman who really knew how to run a B&B. The rooms were very clean and the beds were perfect. I would recommend this place to everyone.

We have been in Tulum quite a few times and this, was out fist time to be guests at Suenos.
Well, we have to say the the service, the care, the friendly staff and ownership of all of them, from Elizabeth, to Giovanna, George, Matteo and ALL of them was outstanding. Pricing, compared to other resorts/hotels, was good and the food very well cared, naturally and freshly prepared. Kids were welcomed and well seen.
Over all I give Suenos a 6 stars. And when we will go back, that will be the place we will return.
Highly recommended.

this place is simply amazing. matteo will attend to all of your needs. you basically feel like you are in heaven on earth. they serve food to guests only (no outsiders) and it is top notch! my husband said the mojitos were the best he's had! one highlight was taking a sunrise walk on the beach accompanied by one of the sweet dogs from the hotel - she walked with me the whole time like my protector. plus we saw stingrays about a foot away from us while walking in the calm sea. awesome! it was so relaxing & we did not want to leave - we stayed 2 nights after a week of wedding festivities in playa del carmen with our friends and family. highly recommended. plus they have a pool - a nice guy we met told us most places in tulum do not have a pool. oh, and they just replaced all the beds while we were there = comfy sleep!
