We were first here when it was Freedom Paradise in 2005 and 2006. We feel in love and were devastated when it closed. When we heard it was reopening as Pavo Real we had to visit again. We requested to stay in the stucco buildings on the north side of the resort, and were pleasantly surprised when we received a free upgrade to a junior suite. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were steps away from the beach and the beach bar. We loved the diversity of the people and the animation team was wonderful and friendly. The food was definitely European themed, but that added to the experience. The biggest complaint we had was that there was no coffee available until 7:30 am. My husband is an early riser and that really was a negative for him (not even a coffee maker in the room). We LOVE the snorkeling....beautiful fish and coral, the beach is amazing. A close walk to the cenote is a fun trek. We relaxed more on this trip than we ever have. With everywhere we go... our motto is to make the best of something we haven't experienced before....just because it's "different" doesn't make it bad.
