Los Lirios Hotel Cabanas
Ranked #64 of 102 Hotels in Tulum
Reviewed August 8, 2014

Just returned from a week at Los Lirios Hotel Cabanas. The hotel is on a beautiful beach, rooms are clean and beds very comfortable. Had a gardenview - but still saw the ocean. A/C great! Food was very good. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff very attentive. We are making plans to go back soon!!!

Room Tip: Gardenview rooms have partial oceanview. All rooms have A/C. Restaurant has Wi-Fi.

Nice hotel by the beach, 2 rows of bungalows facing the sea. 2 rooms downstairs and 2 upstairs in each, with large balconies with a hamoc on the sea side. Rooms are quite large and quiet, no hearing the road nor the neighbours. They are clean (don't forget to tip the cleaner) and offer sufficient, no thrill comfort (you don't come here for interior design, do you? There is the sea, garden, cenotes and maya ruins to awe for). Upstairs room take a steep stair to access but of course offer more privacy. Staff is nice and efficient. Breakfast offers a limited choice by international standards and is not outstanding, though nothing to complain about. Having the morning coffee under the palm trees overlooking one of earth's most beautiful beaches largely makes it an unforgettable experience. Did they say location is everything? As such, once the night is there (6pm) you may look for dinner elsewhere and get back for a nice cocktail if you need a night cap. Other inconvenience (but is it really?) is the poor mobile phone connection, especially from downstairs. European electric sockets, even with an adaptor, declined to work in the room.

Nice location, but you can say the same thing about every hotel in the area. The rooms are nice but not cheap ($180/night for an ocenafront suite) and it is nice to have A/C although ours broke. The management let us have another room right away. What left a bad taste in my mouth were two things about this place: 1. Not all but a lot of the staff, specifically at the restaurant were kind of surly. Only acted nice after getting tips and even then they acted like they were entitled to tips even when they were not nice. I also found them giggling when I approached them or stepped away. Not sure they were making fun of me or what but they should know better than that being in the hospitality industry. 2. My room rate included a "continental" breakfast. According to their definition, a "continental" breakfast includes breads, jams and fruit. But not cereal or any other cold items. That is NOT a continental breakfast anywhere else but at this place. My kids grabbed a bowl of cereal a couple of time, for which I was surcharged 70 pesos so I basically paid 70 pesos for fruit loops These two things left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be coming back. Lots of other resorts in the area.

We spent 4 nights and 5 days, from May 8th to May 12th at the hotel.
The room was big but we had two full size beds instead of one big one. Not a big deal.
Siting area, balcony with a hammock and view to the ocean. The hotel is very well kept, clean, sand is white, plants, palms flowers, etc.
The best only steps from the beach and the beach and the ocean here were beauuutiful.
Let's talk about the dining room and the bar. Staff is very, very customer service oriented. Professional, helpful, cheerful. Breakfast was always good. We had coffeee and omelettes wth anything you want on it, home fries, platanitos fritos, beans and refried beans and other selections, cereal, yogurt, toast........ always had a great time at breakfast, sat at the deck, it was refreshing, etc. Then we took long walks in the beach.
We call it paradise because this place is really quiet, beautiful, white sand, transparent water. We loved it and we will go again!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front should be better - ours was in the back an we still had a great view

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very impressed with the room. We had air conditioning, a nice king bed, and a separate sitting area... also a big balcony with a hammock overlooking the beach.

Unfortunately there was a wedding on the 1st night and they partied until 3 am (obviously there is no noise restrictions here...) but other than that we had a great stay.

The restaurant was very meh. The included breakfast was gross, and unlike other hotels on the beach their restaurant wasn't on the beach but a bit farther off the beach. The nice thing though is that Ziggy's is right next door and their restaurant was great - so you can always go there.

For the price - this was definitely a great place to stay. We also stayed at las ranitas the night before and paid an extra $150 for our room which was not as nice as here.

Room Tip: we had a top floor facing the beach which was great. choose FAR from the restaurant to avoid any pot...

Beautiful hotel, beautiful location. Clean comfortable accommodation just a few steps from the beach, and what a beach! Palm trees, white sand, blue skies and no crowds. Hotel staff polite, friendly and helpful. It was a delight to be served by staff ready to meet your every need. Never had to wait for attention. Room service and beers on the beach. Room cleaned to spotless standard. Young waiters, maintenance crew and security staff were concientious, well motivated and clearly happy in their work. The clockwork organisation was a reflection of the culture clearly set by the Hotel Manager, 'Jorge'. All my hopes and expectations were exceeded. Fully deserving 5 star rating.

Room Tip: Cabanas fronting beach hear the sea, could be perceived a disadvantage. Quieter accommodation set...
