“Peaceful & Relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013

If you're looking for a place to unwind, relax, disconnect from technology, read a book, find peace, this spot is perfect. Minimalist yet large rooms. Cozy seating/eating area. Staff is incredibly friendly. At night with the candles lit in the open seating area, listening to the sound of the waves, playing a game of checkers, drinking a glass of wine... it was just perfect. Exactly what we needed to unwind and reconnect.

Room Tip: Ocean view is beautiful

The beach here is absolutely gorgeous-white, powdery sand and tempting turquoise water. The gracious service in the restaurant makes for a pampered vacation. The fresh fruit smoothies with the local Mayan honey are healthy and delicious. The ceviche the freshest I've had. I do feel like the local, native employees made this stay great, while the front desk staff were helpful if asked, were not overly hospitable. The only real negative was the water in our shower had a horrible smell to it, so we opted to rinse off in the outdoor shower after being in the ocean. We were only there for a few nights, but if the stay was longer, it would have been more of an issue. We were in an oceanfront room so the construction did not effect us at all. I would definitely go back to Tulum and to Rosa del Viento.

We stayed at Rosa del Viento for 12 nights in Nov-13. When we arrived we had no idea about the construction work that was going on at the premises. We got a bungalow next to the building place, which resulted in that we were awakened early in the mornings by the workers and we could not use our little terass due to all the noises and all the junk that fell from the construction work next doors! The manager though, offered us a change of bungalow and a discount, which was nice, but not until 6 days had passed.
The cleaning was not so good, the refilling of amenities didn't happen once! The bungalows had an impression of being worn out, the drains didn't work properly and so on...
The food in the restaurant was not of a high quality. We had dinner once, and had to leave the food uneaten due to a very bad smell and taste of the fish ordered! No excuse or offer of something else was given. The breakfast was average. The service very inconsistent.

No, Rosa del Viento is not living up to the 4-star criteria!

Be aware of that Rosa del Viento is situated at the far end of the Zona Hotelera, which means that you either have to walk quite a bit, or take a taxi to other restaurants and the little shopping there is.

Room Tip: If you want to stay at this place, be sure to choose a bungalow with beach view!

We just spent a week at Rosa del Viento and had a great time. Our room was right on the beach and was extremely comfortable. The staff was amazing and very friendly. The restaurant was surprisingly good, and other hotels and restaurants are a short walk or cab ride away. Rosa del Viento is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking to relax and forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We spent 10 days in this lovely accommodation and loved every minute of it. this certainly isn't a place to go if you want entertainment, but if you want peace, quiet and a beautiful beach then look no further. People that criticize places like this just don't do enough research into where they are going as I can honestly say that it was even better then some of the good reviews. Yes you really do need a car to get there, but after that take you shoes off and lay back and relax on the lovely sunbeds. no fighting for one here as there are one for every room. Yes the rooms are quite basic and it would have been nice to have a fridge but we really didn't find it a problem as the bar drinks are not too expensive. the food is very good and compared with having to negotiate the speed bumps and crabs on the road back into Tulum at night just atay and eat there, or walk up the beach to one of the other hotels.
The staff were really lovely and couldn't do enough to help.
We were very fortunate to have been on the beach one evening when a nest of Turtles hatched, and were able to help keep the frigate birds away whilst they rushed to the sea!

Room Tip: All nice but a beachfront is obviously best

Modern bungalows with AC smack-bang on the beach. We had a very enjoyable 3 nights here, loved the spaciousness & modern relaxed feel of the resort, the friendly staff & the fantastic restaurant on site.

I was so happy we picked this hotel for our stay in Tulum, the only regret was not being able to stay longer!

We enjoyed the beautiful beach, lying on the comfy day beds, drinking yummy cocktails and eating fresh fish ceviche & tacos on the beach.

Only negative is the walk from the hotel to the main part of Tulum is a bit scary at night as the road is not well lit. But given the on-site restaurant is excellent value & serves amazing delicious fresh seafood, Italian & Mexican dishes we actually preferred to stay in for dinner!

Room Tip: Get one of the oceanfront rooms!
