“COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER”

The service provided by the people working there is good, Pancho will cook good breakfast, fresh every morning and provide you with some choices , always very polite. the hotel is a little dated, it has been on the market for sale for about 1 year ,so I guess the owner is on the home stretch , the beach was dirty . To the right of those beautiful green beach chairs that you see in the pictures, there were empty soda bottles, plastic bags, and other miscellaneous garbage items that stayed for at least 5 days out of 7 that I was there , it was the same old garbage with no daily beach cleaning , so figure you are on a Mexican vacation and thinking of the white sand and all of that and then suddenly you think , I have this in New York , or New jersey , some disappointment there, but everybody is different, it bothered me. I understand , the waves will bring stuff there and there , but if you care and it is your hotel , you will clean it right away , not a week later. In order to swim you have to go either to the right or left of the hotel a little bit since there are a lot of rocks, algae etc and you have to walk in the water like a block or more , you could even walk 200 or 300 yards into the ocean and here and there you would see some deeper spots , but right away another rock formation and shallow water again. They have kayaks that you can use , but they are not those new ones as they seem to have on the pictures, I saw three white old kayaks on the beach and one blue and white that I used once. I was looking for someone to tell me where the paddles were , but no one was around ( a little spooky I must say), not a single soul in the hotel , no guests , nor personnel , no one in the beach , so I figure go to the scuba shop on the first floor by the entrance that is closed with a metal gate with bars, there I see the paddles inside the shop and I grabbed one that I later returned the same way . There are other beaches like 10 minutes away that you can go if yiou have a car. You can snorkel if you take the kayak and go further into the ocean. If you watch hotel impossible, this is the perfect example for that show , why? the curtains are dated, there were two white stains , one in each of the bed comforters , right in the center ( I don't know what they were, but they were there, I'd like to think it was bleach, but again , who knows?), I ran my finger over the wall pictures and there was dust (it has been there for a while) , I moved the bed and there was more dust, this one thicker. The screen to the little balcony had a hole at the bottom where the mosquitoes got into the room , so we have to keep it close at night. The a/c worked great, kept the room cool .There is purified water in each room ( that was great) and they have extra bottles in your room all the time . The cleaning lady , cleaned the room daily and smelled fresh when she finished, but as I said , was not 100% clean. The rooms are oriented in such a way that all of the (all are in the first floor) rooms have a partial ocean view, there are small balconies separated by walls from the other rooms and you can see the ocean from there , but not directly from your bed if that is what you like. As I said , the little balconies faced the ocean from the side of the building, on the opposite side of the room was the entrance . Once you leave your room, there is a long hallway that leads to the beach in front of the hotel, but unfortunately your room and everyone else's rooms face the next door lot which has two buildings that have been abandoned (at least that is what it seems) , there are two structures made of cinder blocks with rusty metal all over the place , it seems like somebody started the construction and run out of money or something , a real eyesore., You can park at the front of the hotel , no problem there. In the second floor they have a beautiful balcony outside o the restaurant which is cool and has nice views. the restaurant area have seen better times, Old leather and wood chair that need replacement, missing fan's parts, old magazines , it lacked décor , coziness , it just needs help . In conclusion: the price was good since the breakfast was included, the view is good , but limited, Yes you are on the beach , right a few yards from your room, it is 75 % clean , it is dated, It is not far from Tulum and great restaurants and music. If yu don't mind driving 30 minutes you have Playa del Carmen. Three blocks from there is casa Cenote , you pay, you get in.If you want to rest , do not mind being alone at times, and are not too picky you can go there

“A nice place to stay”

A very comfortable B&B with everything you need. We wanted to be close to the airport in Cancun for a morning departure and found the Tankah Inn. The rooms were large and comfortable. There was a mini-fridge and air conditioning (which we actually didn't need) and wifi that really worked. (We were trying to rebook a flight cancelled because of the snow and ice in Atlanta--hard to imagine in the wonderful climate of Tulum)! Our granddaughter was delighted with all the seashells and fossils she found in the sea, just feet from our rooms. We were only sorry that we hadn't left ourselves enough time to explore the Mayan cultural site there. The breakfast was quite nice and the staff friendly and cheerful.

“Peaceful and quiet B&B”

We stayed at Tankah Inn for our Honeymoon in January. The rooms were small and simple, but each with its own balcony with ocean views. The best part was the beach that we had almost to ourselves, snorkeling in the reefs a few hundred feet off the shore and miles of beach to walk beyond the Inn. The breakfasts were also amazing and made the stay worth it in itself!

“Ended our 10-day Mayan trip in a nice note”

Tankah Inn is conveniently located, along Mexico 307 to all major sites, yet is very quite, private and relaxing. It is just about 3 Km to Tulum ruins, and 6 Km to Tulum village (countless restaurants and shops), and about 10 Km to Xelha. The beach is nice and private, and you can walk to a cenote. Staffs are friendly and charming. There are total of 5 rooms - so a small and quaint place to unwind. Room is huge, clean and very comfortable. Every room has a balcony and ocean view. Also the place is close to Cancun airport, only 1 hr 10 min drive - on the best road we had encountered in Mexico (as good as in America, if not better).

We arrived on the 29th after an eight-hr driving from Palenque - my boyfriend being an unbelievably driver to make that miracle, and check in was easy and smooth. Throughout our journey, we had been staying with locals, or local enough (that all guest are Spanish-speaking) - those are fantastic. But I also do not mind to tune back into American comfort right before our return.

My only wish is that there could be some mosquito repellent in the room, as those mosquitoes are fierce! And i am still scratching now!!!!

“This get-a-way to the Maya Rivera was by far the best, only to be surpassed by memories of the '80's.”

We searched for 2 weeks on the internet for the right spot on the beach to take a short break from the cedar pollen season in Texas. And we almost booked a place south of Tulum. But thankfully since it was not available, we looked again and found Tan Kan Inn's reviews which mentioned "great snorkeling". That was the big clue, but when we arrived we knew it was perfect for us. Quiet, beautiful beach, great breakfast, walk to cenote, excellent snorkeling (even the snorkel trips from a near-by big hotel come here) and the best hosts. The price was also reasonable and a great value. Thank you all in Tan Kan Inn for a wonderful week. Ed & Beni

“Beautiful location and comfortable B&B with great AC and food”

This B&B provided a much needed respite during an exceptionally hot and humid visit - we loved exploring the remote areas in the coast, but it made an incredible difference being able to come back to a very comfortable, quiet room with great air conditioning, in an idyllic beachfront location and offshore coral reef. The Tankah Inn is part of a small neighborhood of homes and small inns on an inlet that's separated from the rest of Tulum. There is a cenote within walking distance, and we had an amazing time snorkling there. There are also a few good restaurants within walking distance. Not to mention to gourmet breakfast provided by the Tankah Inn's own chef. This would be the place we'd want to stay if we go to Tulum again.
