“Worst meal in Mexico”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

I don't understand what the other reviewers saw in this place. We decided to try this place because it was fairly crowded and looked like it would be real local Mexican food. Though certainly a bargain, this was hands down the worst meal we had in Mexico. The enchiladas mole was so sweet it tasted more like a desert and enchiladas with green sauce was tasteless. My son had some assorted tacos which were the best thing we ordered, especially the chicken. There must be better choices in Tulum for lunch.

“Authentic Mexican”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

Very authentic and cost effective lunch option in Tulum. I had a great large fresh juice, some sopes pollo and tostadas, all were very fresh and good. Definitely recommend this small place for cheap and tasty lunch.

“amazing inexpensive authentic”
Reviewed June 19, 2012

this is perhaps the best restaurant in Tulum pueblo, and certainly the best for the price. aguas frescas and licuados are enormous, fresh and flavorful. the food is very cheap and you can see the cooks preparing your meal on the spot. try the horchata and enchiladas con mole

“Great local food”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

If you want to avoid tourist food and grab a quick easy lunch this is the place to stop. My girlfriend and I always try to find a local place that every day people eat at... This is that place. I knew when we asked the cab to take us to Chaipeneco and he knew exactly were to go we were headed to the right place. When you arrive, you may question if you really want to eat here... Stick it out and you won't be disappointed. We sampled encheladias and a variaty of tacos. All were excellent. You should try their blended drinks with a local spinich native to the area, I recommend the limone con chia... Then to top it all off, it was so affordable. Food for an army, drinks and tip for less than US$10 for two people. Next time we are in Tulum we are going to stop

“Excellent Family Service”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there 3 times in December 2010. All meals were excellent. They make excellent chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. The mole sauce is unbelievable. The BEST I have ever had. I am a big fan of mole sauce. Also, they have excellent pinapple, orange fresh squeezed juices for breakfast. Their prices are inexpensive and they are very kind people. It is a kitchen where you can see the mother and grandmother making hand made sopas and the father works the blender making fresh fruit drinks or milk shakes with papaya or whatever you wish.
