We stumbled across this place while walking back from one of the many cenotes in Tulum. The last cenote we visted was a bit south of Tulum and it was by the highroad, we figured we'd get a taxi sooner or later if we started walking but we didn't. After a really long walk and just as we came into Tulum, at the south end of main road, tired, hungry and thirsty, we noticed a small sign saying "The Hungry Veggie" and being vegetarians and all we thought, "Wow, we're getting lunch here, NOW".

It's a small place with a few tables outside or inside. The owners are a really nice younger couple. The guy is from England and she is from Mexico. The menu is great for a vegetarian. with a hand full of nice cooked vegetarian dishes and they make everything as you order so it's really fresh. We had both lunch and dinner here and i had a nice rice curry with mixed vegetables and a veggie burger. The curry was full of flavors and spicy, the burger was made out of soya and served with home made fried potatos and a really nice fresh salad.

We ordered the today's specials which was one of the above dishes served with an nice fresh non-acloholic drink for 60 pesos, totaly worth it! So if you're in Tulum and you're a vegetarian i suggest you try this place out atleast once.

We were in the Tulum area for a few days and ate at the Hungry Veggie 3 times - twice for lunch and once for dinner. Everything we tried on the menu was great. The combo plate at lunch was fine for two people - curry, black beans, rice, hummus, cabbage/carrot salad, and a tofu dish flavored with pineapple, soy sauce and onion.
At the second lunch we had a nephew with us and he can put some food away. But with a slightly different version of the combo plate, we added the nut rissotto dish and he was full. And for drinks try the Hibiscus water or a fruit shake made with soy milk.
On the dinner visit we had the tofu sandwich, green curry and a large order of hummus, served with pita bread. Good stuff.
The restaurant is at the south end of town - and as you head south it will be on your left (east).
