Aerolito is a nice, safe, clean place off the beaten path for sure. The hostess is lovely, she is very kind and cooks a great breakfast and is very knowledgeable. She even let us borrow her bikes, let us try her coconuts, and gave us a map of Tulum while we were there. The breakfast is wonderful (try the chili) and the garden is beautiful with wild geckos and birds. It is a jungle paradise if you are OK with roughing it a bit...just be careful going in the hot wet season as it was a bit intolerable without air conditioning and the mosquitoes in Tulum are relentless. Ariana who owns the place was nice enough to provide us drinking water, had mosquito netting, and mosquito repelling incense but it is definitely uncomfortable being eaten alive in the swampy heat. I think if we had come during the dry season we would have enjoyed our time a lot more...we really did appreciate her hospitality and it was not the fault of aerolito that the weather and bugs were so rough but it did color our experience. We stayed in Rincon precisio which is nice with an outer patio and a bathroom outside the room --one note though my boyfriend is 6'3" and he barely fit in the double beds so just be wary if you are tall that it will be difficult to sleep.
