“Exactly as Expected”

Just returned home from a week at this wonderful slice of paradise and it was everything that we wanted and expected. The proprietors, Art and June Pizano, were gracious hosts and made our stay comfortable and relaxing. We have stayed in an all-inclusive resort prior to this trip and wanted something different. We wanted to spend our time doing what we wanted to do and where we wanted to do it. We woke up each morning with the breeze blowing in from the sea into the cabana. Art brought us hot coffee and warm bread outside the cabana each morning and was always around if we had questions about navigating around the area or anything else. This is at the top of our "best vacations ever" list and we plan to return. This area is approximately 90 minute drive south of Cancun. There are multiple things to do in this area without the hustle of the resorts and tourists. Tulum is a smaller town that has great food, great beaches, and is safe. It is also has Mayan ruin sites that are amazing. There are more ruin sites a short drive away in Coba. The only down side to this entire vacation is having to drive from Cancun and return to Cancun to leave. The Mexico Police seem to prey on rental cars and tourists driving up and down HWY 307. However, if you want to stay in a beautiful place like this, you have to drive there yourself. Risk 1% - Reward 99%. Loved it.

“Place Like None Other!”

Just got home from our week in Cabana #1. It was perfect!! Art & June are wonderful hosts and the other guests their became good friends by the end of the week. We even made dinner together one evening. We loved hearing the surf and palm trees rustling as we fell asleep each night. And having a tray with coffee, tea and sweet breads waiting for us in the morning was the perfect touch!

We brought our daughter here for her senior trip and she loved it. We all slowed down a bit, taking time to read, dream and for our daughter, make plans for the future. We couldn't have found a better place to spend this special week. It was close enough to town if we wanted to shop or explore but remote enough to feel like we had our own little "slice of heaven".

We can't say enough good about Cabana #1. If you have a chance, spend a little time with Art & June. You won't regret it!

“Best Place to Stay on the Most Beautiful Beach”

How lucky we were to find this wonderful cabana on our own private beach. Upon arrival, we were greeted by June and Art, who were the best hosts we could have asked for. They helped us get acquainted with the location and told us of nearby food and entertainment. Then, after they were satisfied that they had answered all of our questions, they went inside and left the property to us. It was the perfect mix of being available for answering our questions and giving us suggestions on where to go, but also allowing us to have privacy and time alone. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The bay is very calm and perfectly clear. During our 3 day stay, not a single person crossed our section of beach. It as if we had our own private beach. The snorkeling was also a lot of fun. We could simply walk out into the water and snorkel. I did see another review that recommended bringing water shoes, and I would too. The beach is sandy, but there is a lot of coral in the water. You can go without, but on the 2nd day we decided to go to town and buy some. Really amazing snorkeling(which June had recommended) was down the beach near the casa cenote restaurant. We also took June's advice to check out the gran cenote and manatee cenote(just a walk from the cabana) which were both beautiful and fun. We went down to the hotel zone in tulum(which is where we had originally planned on staying) for dinner one night. It was a fun vibe down there, but in my opinion it didn't even compare to where we were staying. If you are looking to meet people and hang out at a bar, this cabana may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for seclusion and an amazing beach, it was the best I've found so far.

“Wonderfully charming and perfectly situated...Slice of Paradise!”

This was such a wonderful experience. My husband and I (on our honeymoon) arrived late in the evening to Cabana #1. We had rented a car at the airport in Cancun (get the rental on line before you arrive, it's cheaper. Be aware that there on mandatory fees that are difficult to read on the website) and drove to the property. We would definitley recommed renting the car for the trip as it was $233 dollars for the week and the round trip cab ride to the cabana would have been $200. It was also very nice to have the ability to travel to all the fantastic sights around this location.

We arrived the evening of a full moon over the bay and a candle lit cabana! It was breathtaking....Art and June had left us refreshments in the refridgerator and a light on our path...these are such warm, friendly people...I can't say enough about their hospitality! Every morning there was hot coffee and buns outside the cabana just waiting for us to enjoy as we gazed out on the ocean from our very private, well kept, white sandy beach.

For those people looking to snorkel...there is such an amazing number of options including right out front of the cabana! The bay has some great snorkeling...Akumal is very close and has a very nice public beach (lots of people). Xel Ha is right next door (for those people who are loooking for an all inclusive experience for the day) and is a very relaxing way to spend a day. (it is $79 for Xel ha for the day but you save 10% if you buy your gate admissions on line).

We just loved this vacation! Both of us have been to many all inclusive resorts through out Mexico but the serenity and beauty of this experience is unmatched by any of the all inclusives we have been too...including Barcelo and Grand Sirenis in the Mayan. It's a totally different experience that we will be back to enjoy with Art and June, hopefully in the near future!
