“Nice setting, good service, food a disapointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2012

The first tip off that this wouldn't be up to French standards was that there were no specials. It looks like they cook the same couple of dishes day after day. For appetizers, we had a shrimp dish that was excellent and a salad that was good, but nothing special, falling short of similar we had at both Mezzanine and Gloria's De Pepe. For the main course, we had the lasagna (my 14 year old), the lobster tail, and a shrimp dish. The lasagna was fine, the lobster was interesting but not particularily tasty and very plainly presented-just the chopped meat and and veggies in the shell-no sides, no garnish. The biggest disapointment was the shrimp dish-- it was no larger than the shrimp appetizer had been. Sort of a scallop with 3 shrimp on top surrounded by a huge expanse of empty plate. The bread by the way was toasted --I guess it was old? I have been to France several times and never had such a sparse, rote meal. The service and setting were lovely, but it was definitely the most disapointing (and expensive) meal of our trip. Perhaps the regular cook was off? Not wanting to waste more money, we did not order desert but went back to the center of town for excellent Gelato at P & C instead.

“the BEST restaurant in Tulum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2012

We are a french-american family with demanding taste for food AND quality of service.
The restaurant is truly excellent and the service is perfect. Great value!
The mexican Chef is very talented, and cooks simple though delicious dishes.
Highly recommended!

“Epicurean experience in Tulum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2011

Ambiance at Paladante is an eclectic mélange between a French Bistrot, a Caribbean hideaway and an awrad winning restaurant sans the attitude. The service is amicable and professional. The food, an honor to attend such an opportunity at Riviera Maya. I visited with partner and was immediately offered crisp, clean water and a fusionized goat cheese, avocado and fresh mushrooms Napoleon to nibble while reviewing the menu. The menu consisted of continetal dishes and traditional Euro tecniques that marry local and some imported ingredients. My choice was a seafood platter in a Chartreuse liquor sauce. The plater offered fresh shrimp, oyesters, mussels and clams. The marriage between the fishy broth and the herb like liquor took my senses to the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas. The seafood was fresh, clean, delicately tender. I was offered a pretty impressive wine list, this time, I declined. I wanted to fully observe and appreciate their Chef's ART and decided to keep my palate sober. DESSERT - I went for their pastries crowned with mascarpone cheese and fresh berries.accompanied by Mexican chocolate. The pastries were a fillo dough that had a nice crunchiness on the outside and a delicateness in its interior. The mixture of mascarpone and strawberries, raspberries and mangos, were an encounter of northern woods meet tropical beaches. The platter was served by a hot concoction of Mayan chocolate. Spiced with flavors of cinnamon, star anise and cloves, this truly evoked a drink offered to the gods of ancient times. The presentation of the plates is very artisitic, for some reason I sensed an influence of Dada, Braques and Duchamp! If you are looking to experience an intimate, elegant yet unpretensious soirée while at the Riviera, you MUST stop at this place. You don't need to ask, I went for anoher night to try another plate. That review, shall come later. Bon Appetit.
