All I can say is that my stay at the Yoga Shala was the best experience ever! Place is super clean and cute, great value, super friendly staff and an amazing beach is just across the street (not so touristy so you can really enjoy) I met awesome people and had a bit of everything: great Yoga practice, chilling and party! I am going back for sure.

Stayed for 4 nights at Yoga Shala and for $29/night it's a very good deal.

The good
- Nice relaxed atmosphere with really friendly travelers looking for an experience that is a bit different from the tourist places on the beach.
- Owner is very friendly and staff very helpful
- The yoga area is lovely with a nice variety of instructors
- My room was quite large with a big comfy bed covered by a mosquito net. But note I think I got a double even though I paid for a single. It was upstairs.
- The place is cleaned very regularly.
- Beautiful beach across the street
- Surprisingly quiet

Don't go expecting luxury for this price, the down side:
- rain can make it a little smelly, not bad and I only ever noticed it for a minute or two but sorta moldy and stale odor.
- tons of mosquitoes that you wouldn't have on the beach side of the road. if you don't sleep in the mossie net you'll get bitten
- the yoga area is lovely and has mossie nets around it but some get in which is really distracting and icky if they get you
- the free bikes don't work very well, the rain destroys bikes there so I'd recommend renting one from the place up the street.
- very low lights due to environmentally friendly energy use, this means I needed a flashlight to read at night.

There might be better places for the price nearby, but I didn't see anything else this cheap except camping. I'd stay here again.

Tips:
- rent a bike and go into town to get some groceries for meals when you don't want to eat out
- use same bike to get to Tulum ruins, Gran Cenote, and any of the lovely beaches you want to visit. Everything is within biking distance and there's a nice bike path covering most of it.
- go to town for meals when you are eating out. Way cheaper and much better food. Try the cochinita at the little taco stands just off from the roundabout in the middle of town.

The Yoga Shala is a gem in Tulum! It's not directly on the beach, but the beach is less than a minute away. It's close to the ruins and the national park (hire a bike or borrow one from the shala and you'll get there easily). Everyone working and staying at the Yoga Shala are warm, friendly and full of tips. The yoga classes are great too - good way to start the day or end a day of exploring. The studio is free for self practice between classes as well - a great bonus. If you're looking for simple accommodation and relaxation, check in here.

The rooms were cleaned every day and the most beautiful beach is a 2 second walk away!!
