Be Tulum is set in a very mellow almost remote part of Tulum. You can easily access some incredible restaurants (on the same road) by taking one of the hotels freely available beach cruiser bikes, or grab a taxi (almost always waiting just outside). We stayed in an arena suite and were literally about 20 steps from the beach. The hotel's restaurant has beautiful, clean, healthy food which we ate for breakfast each morning as we watched the waves roll in. The beach cabanas are comfortable beds both covered and not, that give the perfect place to relax as you go in and out of the extraordinary ocean water. The waitstaff at the restaurant will bring anything right to on the beach. Our room had a/c which was great after some hot and humid days. It was spacious and clean and very sexy. We used the indoor and the outdoor showers and had incense lit every night by the turn down service.
The hotel itself is an exquisite place to relax and unwind, an upscale crowd but not a "scene." The local restaurants near by were amazing and we found some fantastic activities too - Yoga at a local studio (the Be Tulum yoga and spa were under construction during our visit so they sent us down the road), and an incredible snorkeling adventure with Adventure Tour Center (http://www.adventuretourcenter.com/#) All of these were the perfect fit with the tropical, jungle, beach paradise that is Tulum. We will be back to BE for sure.

Room Tip: We chose a downstairs room after looking at both. It was very spacious and there wasn't any noi...

What an escape! The whole stretch of very small boutique hotels that make up Tulum's "hotel zone" are nothing like Playa del Carmen, Cancun, etc etc. You are truly stepping back into a bit of time warp in many respects (in a very good way), absent of the big ol' resorts. We thoroughly enjoyed the very laid back feel of Be and Tulum in general. Yes, maybe there are a few creature comforts that might be missing (no tv's at Be). Be transports their guests to an extremely relaxing place that feels worlds away from busy life, and the tourist areas of Mexico. The beauty of the beach and waters rival that of Thailand and other idyllic beaches of the world... Amazing white sands and those Caribbean blue waters!

We stayed at Be for 5 days and felt VERY well tended to. Continually helpful and attentive staff contribute to a great experience. Anything we asked for, was done promptly and with a smile.

Pro's :
- The (included) Wi-fi worked perfectly the entire trip, including down at the beach.
- All room service meals were fantastic ... from breakfast to a filet mignon dinner.
- Restaurant meals we also very good.
- Air conditioning in the room worked like a champ! As cold as you'd like. (I must confess air
con was the leading reason we chose Be.)
- Water pressure and hot water from the rain showers (both the inside and outside) were very
good.
- Great soaps, bath salts etc. to go with your jacuzzi tub.

Con's (minimal really) :
- Not flushing TP down the toilet takes some getting used to. A small closed trash can is used
for this purpose. But this is a reality of all the homes and hotels in Tulum.
- Not all of the outdoor room showers are that private. Walking up the stairs to our own room
we could easily see down into our neighbors outdoor shower, as they were enjoying it
together.... Keep that in mind too : )

All in all, we'd definitely choose Be Tulum again!

Words like "idyllic", "paradise" , or "getaway" are used far too often to the point they dilute their true significance. I myself have scoured the earth in search of the hidden gems yet to be discovered by the masses. All travellers looking for those gems travel from Thailand to Sri-Lanka, and back to the beaches of Ibiza all searching for the perfect combination of nature, comfort, and adventure. In Tulum we found such a combination of elements, and BeTulum was our greatest discovery.

BeTulum is hidden 10km south of the closest town along the untouched pristine white sand beaches that neighbour a Biosphere reserve. The chaos, noise, and crowds of Playa del Carmen or Cancun are far away. A few scattered bungalows neighbour the Hotel which is also fashioned in a "eco-chic" vibe. The boutique hotel consists of 20 or so suites surrounded by lush green vegetation. The suites have private plunge pools, indoor and outdoor nature showers, and all the commodities of 21st century living.

What makes BeTulum stand out are not the amenities mentioned above, or the infinity pool by the beach, or the Wi-Fi... All these can be easily found on other sites. What makes BeTulum a hidden gem are the people. The attention to detail is what surprised me the most. Every morning the wooden slabs on the way to the beach are carefully swept of sand, the beach and cushions are fluffed, the towels are prepped, and the staff is on high alert to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Attention to detail is present in every aspect of BeTulum. If you are lucky enough to listen to live music during a full moon on the beach, be assured you be enchanted by the sound of classical guitars, flamenco percussion, or even sitars!

On our last night we could not believe our eyes when we caught sight of a 200 lbs turtle come on shore on a full moon. We couldn't have asked for a better good-bye! Thank you. :)

We stayed in Be Tulum in the last five days of our stay in Mexico and we had the most wonderful time!

The first thing that hits you when you arrive is the view of the hotel's secluded private beach front, its white soft sand and turquoise waters. We could hardly wait to get into the sea and relax in the full size double bed loungers, under canopies, right on the beach. They also have a regular-sized infinity pool and comfy bean-bag sofas looking out to the sea. Simply beautiful! Whenever we used the beach or the pool facilities, we always felt so relaxed in this tranquil and crowd-free setting.

It has several spots to eat and drink, including an outside eating area on the beach, an indoor restaurant and a drinks/bar area on a veranda top. They offer a tasty and varied menu of both Mexican and international cuisine, lovely fruit smoothies and fresh barbecued dishes at lunchtime. The only thing to bare in mind is that food and drink is quite pricey for Mexico but they are targeting a niche boutique market and the food is of very good quality.

We stayed in a Ocean View room, a lovely room on the first floor that was very tastefully decorated. It was a large room with all the mod cons, including a massive emperor size bed, a separate shower and a jacuzzi bath. The only that could have made the room better is if they had more mirrors other than the one above the sink, preferably a full-length mirror and a sideboard as there was nowhere to put your toiletries / make up other than the tiny shelf by the sink.

Our room also had a spiral staircase that took us to our own private veranda, which had a small private pool and lounge area. It was the perfect place for my husband and I to relax away from everything, surrounded by peaceful palm tress. And bonus, we still could enjoy a gorgeous sea view from our pool.

The staff were very attentive, courteous and looked after us very well. We were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and they pulled out all the stops to make our four days in Be Tulum very memorable, including a surprise rose petal bath and champagne. We did experience a slight hick-up on one of the days we were there, but the management took great care in hearing us out and getting things sorted. We were very impressed with the quality of the service.

Other things that made this hotel such a great place was that it was child-free and only had a small number of rooms, so it was never crowded. I also don't know whether it was because we were on the first floor, but it was always bug free.

The rooms, restaurant and shared facilities were always kept clean and the staff took great care in looking after the hotel.

It was a magical four days for us and we hope to go back again. A special thanks to Ana, Daniel, Jesus and Cecilia for making our stay so wonderful!

Room Tip: As the hotel puts on regular live entertainment, if you are an early sleeper, best to ask for a room...

We stayed at Be Tulum for the last 3 nights of our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect in every way. It is a slice of paradise and I really hope we get the chance to go back one day.
I still remember the absolute peace and tranquility I felt as soon as I walked into Be Tulum to be greeted by the reception staff. We arrived at Be Tulum after 6 nights at an all-inclusive resort called Secrets Maroma. We had had such a good stay at the first hotel we were a bit apprehensive about moving on but we are so glad we did because Be Tulum was the ideal place to finish our trip. Everything about Be Tulum is beautiful. It is wonderfully private and everything is stylish yet very comfortable. We absolutely loved our room. In the rooms, you can choose from an indoor or outdoor shower which I thought was very cool. The rooms have a docking station which is very useful but no television. We loved this and never missed it.
As soon as we had checked in to our room (jungle suite), we went to discover the beach area. The walkway is very tropical. You make your way through the trees on wooden slats and the beach area is absolutely stunning. We immediately loved the rustic feel of the place. I loved that the tables are actually on the beach. The staff were absolutely fantastic and the food delicious (although it was so hot when we were there, we couldn't make the most of it).
The hotel put on different events at night and whilst we were there, there was an acoustic night in the bar area which was fantastic and they showed a film on the 3rd night of our stay. It was my husband’s birthday and the staff were great preparing him an entire birthday cake. We then shared it with the other guests. The hotel has free bikes and we rode in the sweltering heat up to the ruins. It was a lot of fun despite the heat.
Finally the beach area is simply paradise. The lounges are very comfortable. The bar staff are very attentive. We felt like we were on our own private island almost. We went for an hour and half’s walk along the beach and saw very few people.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We absolutely loved our stay. Yes it is on the expensive side but it was such a fabulous place to stay. I wouldn't have wanted to stay there for 10 days because it is very small but it worked so well coming here after an all-inclusive and 3 nights was just right.

I've recently stayed at Be Tulum for a week and I cannot wait to return. The hotel is gorgeous. It's cabana style room set on a quiet end of the beach in amongst palm trees. The beach itself is beautiful with white sand and aqua seas. The hotel room - we stayed in a jungle room were large and combined local style architecture with comfort and luxury.
I was blown away by the friendliness and service level at Be Tulum. For 2 days of our stay there was a tropical storm so they organised for a day excursion to a spa so we didn't end up stuck in our rooms.
Thenlocation of the hotel is perfect as it's at a quieter end of the beach so you really feel this is your own private beach. As the hotel only has 20 rooms you get to know the other guests and it creates a really friendly atmosphere. Location wise it's close to some amazing restaurants - such as Posada Margharita and Hartwood.
The food was good too - defo try the fish taco's and the margarita's were fab!
It's the little touches that make Be Tulum special such as the free bikes so you can explore, a book library so you have something to read and the free torches - so you can see! (Tulum being eco friendly restricts some of the lighting.)
I really loved Be Tulum and am looking forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: All rooms have AC - thankfully - which isn't common in Tulum.
