I stayed at Coco two years ago, and recent developments have continued to lift the edge of this little group of beach front Cabanas. Not only do the beach front Cabanas remain, upgraded with small terraces, chairs and hammocks but there are additional external shower facilities, a basic spa zone, chic little restaurant and additional tree top styled cabanas.

The architect for all of this deserves a little pat on the back. All development work has been sensitively delivered, and alhough the site is now almost bursting at the seams, it works and there is still sufficient privacy for all the guests.

Having stayed at a few other places around Tulum including Papaya Playa, I can tell you the rooms at Coco in particular the new 1st floor cabins, are superior at this price bracket and infact offer better value against apparently higher grade properties. Very elegant, large, private terraces, pleasant to terrific views.

Coco remains a shared bathroom type place, but these are of a good standard and if this is a problem, then I think it would be your only problem.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All rooms now have a small terrace with outside space. However I highly recommend the new cabanas...

This was one of a favourite places to stay on our road trip around Yucatan. The rooms are divine, the beach is sublime and the restaurant and the service is great. The only down side is having to venture 50 metres to go to the toilet when you wake up in the night as there are no bathrooms in the rooms but the security is good so there's not really anything to worry about!

Hello Eve! We appreciate your comments very much.
Shared bathrooms are part of the old school-Tulum vibe we try to keep in a very nice and hip way.
Tower rooms are always an option for those who prefer more intimacy :)
Hope to see you around soon!

This was one of the best places I have ever been. Cabanas near the ocean are absolutely perfect. Bathroom with shells in the sinks is very interesting and whole place looks like paradise. You can hear waves at night and when you wake up, sunrise above the ocean gives the impression of perfection. Also, everything is very clean. Extra good value for the money. I would recommend it to all travelers. The only thing which is bad is restaurant. Service is very slow and unprofessional and prices are horrible.

Hi there Velx!

As a young hotel seeking to thrive unto excellence, we appreciate our guest's valuable feedback.
We work hard every day to keep our grounds and cabanas well maintained, as we understand it contributes to the magic of Tulum's beautiful beach.
I will surely look forward to improve our service on the restaurant and hopefully we'll win you over in your next visit ;)

All the best, always...

It was our first trip to Mexico and we were a little hesitant to get our hopes up when we kept reading Eco Chic about all the beach hotels in Tulum. We read many reviews and were hoping that they were half as good as they sounded. We expected the pictures to be deceiving.

However, we loved everything about this place!!!!
Staff--super friendly and hard working.
Location--can't beat it. Either looking at the aqua, clear water or a stones throw from it.
Quality of grounds--perfectly clean all the time. People are working to keep everything tidy around the clock.
Food and drink--our little restaurant baked its own bread, pastries, and pizza. Everything we ate and drank was awesome. The breakfasts and pizzas were an exceptionally good value in the high season.
Price--the prices are wonderful for the kind of services offered. The drawback for some is that only the tower rooms have a private bathroom. My husband and I never found using the common bathrooms or showers to be a problem. Actually it created a real community atmosphere.

Room Tip: The cabanas on the beach were lovely, but the ocean sounds can actually be louder than you expect an...

What a gem in Tulum, especially the Tower 2 and Tower 3 rooms. The reservation for 10 nights was made months in advance and when I tried to extend my stay by a few more nights, (also a few months in advance) it was impossible. There is a new restaurant with really good food. The beach was cleaned everyday and well as the gardens. Tulum is a "new age" destination and is a bit on the expensive side, but well worth the experience.

We stayed at the newly renovated Coco Hotel in Feb . Staff is friendly and helpful. The new cabanas are fresh and very clean. We loved the new porches where you can sit, read, and watch the ocean. The shared private bathrooms are well maintained and easy to access. The new restaurant has amazing pizza in the wood burning oven and friendly staff. Well priced for the beach. We would return next year.

Hi Cynthia and Bob,
I am very happy you were able to experience Coco Tulum's new features during your visit.
The porches and chairs were added to the cabanas as a result of guest's feedback, actually.
And Juanita Diavola's brick-oven pizzas.. are definitely a must while staying at Coco!
See you next year! :)

The property is so immaculately cared for; the garden is well landscaped, soft sandy paths are groomed daily, our room is simple, well appointed, and spotless. Staff is very nice and helpful. And you can't beat the setting, with the beach and ocean mere steps from the cabana. The restaurant/lounge (Juanita Diavola) is stylish and serves delicious food, especially the thin-crust pizza from the wood fired brick oven and talented hands of Martin. I think we've found our spot in Tulum!

The only slight negative is the beach in front of hotel is a bit narrow, but wider soft sandy beaches are just a hundred yard away in front of its sister property, Playa Azul.
