I really loved the Coco Tulum.
Simple and beautiful!
The blue water, the white sand, the wind and the hammocks!
The BEST: The massage with Julian at the next hotel. It is a little cabana on the beach. It was amazing! Try him : )

We stayed at Coco Tulum earlier this month. I had a room in the tower and it was definitely worth the extra money compared to the bungalows. We had our own bathroom, the room was very nicely decorated and had a view of the ocean from our bed. If you stay in the tower on the ground floor you probably don't have a view. Breakfast wasn't included but you could easily get to their sister hotel, Playa Azul, and eat there. Coco is definitely a more bungalow atmosphere compared to Playa Azul which has more traditional type rooms. You are literally right on the beach and can use the beach chairs at Playa Azul. Coco only has hammocks on the beach. It rained one day and even though all the windows were closed water came in through the walls and we had a big pool of water around our suitcases.

This was a nice option for us but next time I may stay at Playa Azul as they have more amenities. Very good customer service though.

My wife and I had stumbled upon this gem on the beach at Tulum and LOVED it! After 2 days we went to the resort where we had a reservation, NO COMPARISON! - The A-I Resorts were nice - but cookie-cutter opulence is boring - COCO had class, and charm, so what there was no AC - we were there in July and the breeze was awesome, we rented bikes, visited the ruins, and loved the beach.

We stayed in the tower - it was worth the extra cost (still a great deal) ! The local food was amazing too especially the restaurant at Playa Azul - All the staff were amazing - Manuel, Miguel and esp. Toñio made it unforgettable!

The bungalows are perfect - note that there is no much difference between garden and sea view as the cabins are just a few metres away. The staff is really friendly and all the common areas are incredible clean. We went to Playa Azul for breakfast, it's within walking distance through the beach. Can't wait to go back!

Tulum is a beautiful place to visit. Coco is a nice place for guests with average to low expectations, this is coming from a repeat guest. We've stayed in a tower before, and this was our second visit back staying in tower #1(ground floor). First of all, booking tower is worth spending extra money in case the storm comes. Tower offers one electrical outlet, private bathroom with shower, lamps for reading, and finally privacy. However, there are downsides: tower is expensive. We've stayed in tower 3 before(the top one) and it was nice since it overlooked the ocean, had nice breeze, perfect for guests that do not mind climbing stairs. You get more mosquitoes upstairs, but at the same time you get fresh air. This time we stayed at tower 1, since all others were booked, and we did not like it at all. It is not worth the money. Everyone walks by you: people using common bathrooms or the outdoor shower, housekeeping and maintenance guys talk loud, guests talk right outside the room, a lot of noise from upstairs guests, bad ant problem, NO BREEZE, if you try to open windows -there is NO privacy and a lot of crawling creatures that come inside. Overall, the place has gone downhill: they definitely need to improve pest control in common areas ( resort grounds) and in the guest rooms. Additionally, windows and doors are not insulated, so all storm water was in our room all over the floor and sitting areas.
Beach: the shaded area is tiny, it is not big enough to accommodate all hotel guests. The wooden sticks that create shade over hammocks need to have some sort of plastic on the top to provide quality shade ( not just the illusion of shaded area), and hammock area has to be expanded or even doubled.
On the positive side: the front desk girl is very friendly and tries to help in any way she can. She is a keeper, I hope the hotel management recognizes her superior hospitality. The beach is very pretty, and it is definitely very relaxing. Housekeeping that cleans rooms daily tries very hard to keep guests satisfied.
I would probably not go back to coco, since there are a lot of other options for the same price range. If you want to give it a shot-book Tower 2 or 3. DO NOT WASTE your money on tower 1.

Room Tip: book tower 2 or 3

Lodging, beach service are all great. The Cabanas are really nice. There are three actual rooms in the tower. The top is spectacular, but the bottom one is exceptional too. Fly into Cancun, rent a car and drive down to Tulum. From there you can drive to all the ruins and ceynotes. I plan to come back to Coco Tulum.

Room Tip: Rooms in the tower have their own bath, still the cabanas are excellent.

My boyfriend and i stayed in the tower - level 2.
Great views, mostly of trees and birds and partial ocean view.
Room / bathroom is very basic, but was fine for what we needed. Was good to have our own shower / toilet unlike the beach cabanas.
When it rained the water flooded through the gaps around the windows, and there were many holes for bugs to get in at night. Lucky we had a bug net!!
There is no air con in the room, but there are plenty of windows that allow the ocean breeze to fill the room.
Cleaning staff always did a great job.
Only negative is the front desk staff (2x ladies in particular). At times they were quite rude. Would have been a great stay if they were more inviting.
