This was a great place to stay. The owners allowed us to check in early, and check out late with no charges (we were taking a late night bus out of town). Really convenient location, easy to go out and get juice and fruit in the mornings, or pick up tacos on your way to the hotel. Really informed and helpful staff had plenty of suggestions for places to go and things to do. Room was very clean, great bathroom amenities, excellent shower water pressure, and a spacious and comfortable room.

I highly recommend this little hotel. It's very quiet, with about 10 rooms, a few streets away from the main strip in Tulum central, and a few blocks from the bus station. It is set around a beautiful garden with seats and hammocks. Water and fruit is provided. The room is basic but stylishly decorated. The shower room was small, and the door didn't open properly as the loo was in the way - that was the only negative about the place.

The staff were very friendly and helpful - we gave them a load of washing when we arrived, which they turned around quickly for a reasonable rate, then the next day when we got back from Sian Ka'an reserve, they did another load for us for the next morning.

We got a full "induction and orientation" when we arrived, with loads of advice on where to eat etc.

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Tulum town.

In a two-week cross-country Mexican adventure, Secret Garden literally made our trip. Peaceful and serene, it is a walled oasis fulled with birds, lizards and greenery. Hammocks are hung throughout the courtyard, so you can swing peacefully listening to the birds sing. Our room was clean, comfortable and full of character. My sister and I shared the White Room, a cabana-style space equipped with two beds and a kitchenette. The beds were separated via a loft, which gave us each a bit of personal space and had the added benefit of feeling like we had our very own treehouse. Joshua and Antonio were so kind and friendly and really went beyond to make our stay extraordinary. They were always up for a chat, very knowledgeable and really caring. They gave us in depth recommendations on the very best places to go and see. We really felt like guests in a friend's home, very welcome and appreciated. We thought we would miss staying right on the beach, but having this cool, mellow spot to come home to every night was amazing. I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet yet vibrant and very unique place to enjoy Tulum. We will definitely be back! (Hopefully soon!)

We spent there 4 nights and it was absolutely perfect! It's close to everything you need: restaurants, bus station, bike/scooter rental, shops. If you want to go to the beach, what you have to do is renting a bike or a scooter. It will be very easy. Rooms are spacious enough, clean and the garden is amazing and really relaxing. Joshua and Maura will tell you everything about Tulum, what you can do, what you should do and they will be available for everything you need (requests, suggestions and so on).
Just outside the hotel you can see and realise what and how is the actual life of mexican people living in Tulum; something you'll be deprived if you stay in those hotels on the beach (the only road along the beach is totally built, you will only find hotels, trees, the sea and of course people).

Secret Garden is a very sweet place two streets from Avenida Tulum (which is also a highway) but a world away from the hubub. The neighborhood is quiet, and the hotel itself is an island of tranquility. Well maintained, with a jungle hideaway atmosphere. Secret Garden is a place to feel comfortable and at home. Two rows of rooms face a tree-shaded central garden with lounging furniture. Next to the office is a refreshment station with hot and cold water, tea, instant coffee, fruit, and snacks. We REALLY appreciated having the hot water available for early morning tea. Rooms are pleasant and kept very clean. Joshua, who checked us in, took lots of time to give us advice and directions for enjoying the town and the surrounding area.
