A great place to stay, close to all the things to see and explore from sea to ruins to biosphere( a must to see).
All the services are within walking distance, We rented bicycles, took the bus, and a tour. And it all was at an affordable cost.
Bugs were no problem at this time of year, but that also meant there were few flowers to enjoy.

I chose the hotel based on other Tripadvisor reviews I read and was not disappointed. We chose the regular room vs. the palapa style rooms because we wanted A/C.....and needed it a couple of the nights during our stay Feb 15th-20th. They do have ceiling fans in both types of rooms. Our room was clean and the beds were pretty comfortable compared to other beds we've had in Mexico. There were some nice touches with a few toiletries and washcloths which we don't see much of in MX. The hot/warm water took a bit to come on but finally did. There were plenty of shelves for your things along with a place to hang wet swimsuits and towels. Also, some reading lamps which seem to be a rarity at other hotels. It felt safe as the main gate was locked after 9 pm. although we never have had any issues in Tulum. You may want a small flashlight to help with the lock if you're out as it is pretty dark at the gate. It was nice to sit in the garden area and have a drink.....sometimes visit with travelers passing through. The mosquitos did start to come out in the evening but typical. There were birds that nested in the trees in the garden so they started collecting in the evening as well and once in awhile some bird droppings.....But isn't that a sign of good luck when it hits you!! We stayed 5 nights and seems others didn't stay as long...maybe a stop for them when visiting ruins and cenotes. Joshua, Maura and Mary were so helpful and nice and all spoke English. We loved having nescafe and a banana available in the morning and drinking water was a big plus. Only two blocks off the main hwy and close to the bus station. We would definitely stay again. The 5 stars definitely doesn't mean "5 star resort" it means the management is optimizing the setting of the property and truly concerned about their guests.

We recently spent 4 nights at Secret Garden. The staff was wonderful, and the setting was very charming, a jungle garden right in the city. Although a short walk from the ADO bus station and restaurants in town, entering the gate felt like entering a different world. Joshua gave us lots of excellent information about the area including spot-on restaurant recommendations, and Maura couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. The rooms were not luxurious but were clean and comfortable. A few niggles: the free coffee was instant, the reading lamps were tiny and didn't put out much light, and the mattresses were not that great. But overall, this is a fine choice in Tulum, and we would definitely stay again.

We left Tulum today after two nights in the Secret Garden. The staff there provided an excellent personalised service (Mary was consistently lovely and helpful, and we had a great chat with Joshua). The town location is perfect- short walk to the main avenue, including the bus station. Room was great, garden itself a pleasure to relax in. Definitely choose here if you're staying in town!

Joshua and Staff made our one week stay a pleasure! While not luxurious, Secret Garden was clean, comfortable bed, and a lovely garden to relax with comfy sofas, tables and chairs, and hammocks. Near lots of restaurants and shops, yet quiet in the evenings and mornings. They provided us with a guest pass to a private beach club which was fantastic and not crowded! Purified water was provided, and we even received beach towels for our visits to the beach. Go!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were directed to the best places to eat and visit in Tulum. The room was clean and spacious and the garden was beautiful and tranquil. I thoroughly recommend buying a couple of beers and making use of the hammocks in the evening (although look out for the mosquitos). We would definitley come back here if visiting Tulum again.

We stayed at this place for a couple of nights since we couldn't find accommodations in Tulum Beach for all of our days, and what a treat it was. Our cabana was cosy, clean and very spacious, the garden is serene, perfect spot to lay in a hammock and take a siesta. The staff is super friendly and accommodating.
We will recommend it to friends going to Tulum!
