We have booked this hotel because of all the good reviews. And it was all true! We had a very pleasant stay! Joshua and Maura were so friendly and gave us a lot of information. We had a very nice bungalow with a lot of attention on the details. The garden is a romantic place to spend the evening! Secret garden has the total package and looks like one of the 'our picks' of the lonely planet! Thank you again Johua and Maura! Greetings marcia & mark from holland

I read all the great reviews on Tripadvisor and reserved the first three nights of our 6 night trip here. From our first communication, Joshua and Maura were very warm and accommodating. We ended up getting there an entire day late because of a canceled connecting flight, and Joshua was so kind to just shift our reservation without any charge for the lost day. Immediately when we got there, Joshua sat down with us with a map and showed us exactly where everything was in town and on the beach. It was this open and friendly vibe that made our stay at Secret Garden so wonderful. The room we stayed in was clean and very comfortable even without air conditioning, and the courtyard was a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast or coffee while we figured out our daily plans. We were happy to explore the beach, cenotes, and the ruins during the day, maybe catch a bite on the beach for dinner, and then come back to our quiet comfortable room in town. No need to spend our entire trip on the beach (though we did satisfy that curiosity later in our trip). We were on a tight budget but the accommodations here felt romantic and special. Our experience at Secret Garden was entirely positive and we will definitely be back on our next trip to Tulum!

The Secret Garden was recommended to us by friends and it was certainly the best choice we could of made. Located in a very quiet spot a block back from the strip, access to all the restaurants and amenities was easy. Joshua and Maura were very accommodating and informative helping with information on activities, restaurants, beaches and car rentals. The rooms are very clean with a range of choices to suit different sized groups and needs like fan or AC. We chose a cabana with kitchenette but tea, coffee, snacks are available in the garden. We'll be back to stay with Joshua and Maura soon.

A great hotel, close to the main road. The staff was excellent, very helpful and nice. Ask them to explain everything that interests you on the tulum map!
Outside of the rooms there is a big shady garden, lots of trees but there are bird nests in them so you have to watch out for the bombs :).
the rooms are nicely decorated, some have a kitchen and a fridge, bathrooms are spacy and also well decorated, also you get a towel for your face, hands and body :).
You can leave your documents at the reception.
Only thing that i would recommend is to get new pillows! Because even though the sheets were changed every day one pilow would stink after the night, especially because it was hot and we took a room without A/C. The tiny brown pilows were esecially stinky.
All in all a definetly good hotel and i recommend it to everyone!!!

Greetings Nikola & Tea!

The Secret Garden is a simple MUST if you visit Tulum. It's not only close to everywhere you could want to go in town, but it's also the most comfortable and luxurious place you could wish to find for a great price. Your hosts Joshua and Maura are the loveliest people you could hope for, somebody is always there to help with any advice or information you may need, and always more than happy to provide it with a smile. The rooms are totally Fabulous. We stayed in one of the rooms without air-con, which in our opinion were nicer (if you like a more 'rustic' look), but there was a very effective ceiling fan and two floor standing fans which was plenty more than enough. Everything here has been nicely thought out and done with just a little extra nice flare, down to the little pair of speakers you could plug into your ipod/laptop I was delighted to find in our room. On arrival you will get the complete lowdown on all to see and do in and around Tulum, and the best way to do it. The rooms are immaculately clean and beautiful, the hosts are lovely. What more can I say? This place really is worthy of its 5 star rating, stay there and you will find out why. (I haven't even mentioned the garden and why they call it the secret garden, but you'll like it when you find out!).
