Description: Located across the beach road from Nueva Vida is Casa Banana Steakhouse, a Tulum dining hot spot. Serving up classic Argentinian style cuisine, the food here is simple, fresh and delicious. For breakfast each morning enjoy made to order coffee, homemade banana bread, and pineapple coconut jam. At night the restraurant gets busy and comes alive with it’s outdoor grill, known as “parilla,” and dishes are cooked over the open fire for all to see. The menu favorites include grilled to perfection steak, fresh caught fish, impressive salads, and a thoughtfully selected wine list. Don’t forget to try the handshaken icy margaritas, too.Open daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. We provide beach service for all guests of the hotel.

“Big burgers but little attention”

The burgers were good and absolutely massive, but the staff paid us as little attention as they could get away with.

“Adventurous and marvellous experience. But way overpriced.-”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

Tulum on its own was such a revealing experience, last time I was there was like 10 years ago and it's a whole different world, very earthy, trendy, Eco, chic and cosmopolitan destination.

I can say that overall I had a wonderful time at this place, I left from there with a smile on my face and with a full stomach.

It all started kind of rocky at Casa Banana, that is when you take into consideration that the people that run this place are Argentinian and they think they are all that and pass as rude at times, but when you overlook that you can start to enjoy yourself.

A different experience in a different jungle-beach feeling place, the food was amazing, but definitely overpriced.. You don't want to pay 20 usd for a beet salad, you are not in NY, you are eating on dirt floor and being bitten by mosquitos!

You understand that it is all part of this "castaway" experience, very close to nature and blah blah... But who carries 500 usd in cash to pay for a bill at a restaurant that's in the middle of the jungle?? They don't take credit cards, so be careful.

Anyway.. I'd definitely go back with a big bucket of cash and a big appetite... The most memorable: their lamb risotto and rib eye, and always listen to the wine recommendations!
