Description: Located across the beach road from Nueva Vida is Casa Banana Steakhouse, a Tulum dining hot spot. Serving up classic Argentinian style cuisine, the food here is simple, fresh and delicious. For breakfast each morning enjoy made to order coffee, homemade banana bread, and pineapple coconut jam. At night the restraurant gets busy and comes alive with it’s outdoor grill, known as “parilla,” and dishes are cooked over the open fire for all to see. The menu favorites include grilled to perfection steak, fresh caught fish, impressive salads, and a thoughtfully selected wine list. Don’t forget to try the handshaken icy margaritas, too.Open daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. We provide beach service for all guests of the hotel.

“Great Food and Better Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

Prior to our visit I read some reviews and was pleasantly surprised to find that Casa Banana far exceeded our expectations. We spend nine days at Nueva Vida de Ramiro and enjoyed breakfast each day at the restaurant. For a Midwesterner in the depth of winter nothing beats fresh fruit and a warm loaf of bread for breakfast on vacation. We ate dinner at Casa Banana several evenings. The highlight of my meals was a honey and habanero glazed shrimp skewer. The seasoning was perfect. My wife loved the duck and said it was the best she's had. Casa Banana also has a great wine selection for such a remot location. One of the most memorable experiences on the final night of our stay was when the waiter asked if my wife and I would like a second bottle of wine. We did, of course. When the waiter returned he brought the wine, two glasses and a bucket of ice and reminded us that it was a full moon and that we would probably enjoy it more on the deck of our ocean front cababa. A really nice and thoughtful touch.

“Fresh and tasty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

We had breakfast there and I was confused as what to order as there are so many good choices, I wasnt dissapointed with my choice. A really nice touch was that the hostess walked around giving out freshly baked little jam tarts that were hot out the oven! Great great place - if you are in Tulum dont miss this place.

“Love, love it!”

We stayed at the Hotel Nueva and had the most wonderful experience! We were served breakfast every morning in our room that included fresh fruit, juice, bread and an omelette. The service was always on time as requested and the food was always hot and delicious. One evening we enjoyed an amazing dinner of grilled lobster tail and steak that was served with potatoes and a vegetable. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was so romantic and sexy with everything being grilled in an open air kitchen. We will be back!

“expensive and underwhelming”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

We heard a lot of great things about this restaurant, including very favorable reviews from other guests at our hotel. But we found the place to be a little stuffy, not just due to the humidity, and the food mediocre. Our beat salad appetizer was fantastic but the shrimp kabob entree was extremely salty and the fatty ribeye almost seemed microwaved. For the price, it felt disappointing.

“good breakfast, but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

Really terrible service. Really. Terrible. We did not go for dinner. We've heard they have great meats, but the prices are very very high and given that the service is very aloof, that wasn't a combo that works for us. I suspect we would have agreed with abwolverine below.
