“Nice Garden - Yummy Fruit Crepe”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

Azafran is a nice little german owned breakfast house in Tulum. The fruit crepe was delicious, but if you need more they also have a "hangover breakfast" - which although I didn't eat it, I saw it and it looked great too. She also serves a number of traditional German (although I'm not German, that's what the menu said) breakfasts.

The garden in the back offers a great setting for your breakfast, before you go and concur all Tulum has to offer.

“Don't miss Azafran when you visit Tulum.”
Reviewed January 24, 2012

My husband walked by this restaurant twice before he saw someone coming down the walkway from the back....when he investigated, he found a lovely garden setting. We went for breakfast the next day. Wow! He enjoyed the "Hangover Killer" breakfast, which is loaded with meat, potatoes, eggs, a small salad and fabulous homebaked rye toast. My yogurt/fruit crepe was equally delicious, as was the fresh-squeezed orange juice and the great coffee. We've since been back for other offerings - including the delicious omelets and bagels, and we've never been disappointed. You'd think that would be enough..... BUT, the best thing is the Sunday evening GRILLFEST. Bratwurst, pork and chicken are cooked on a charcoal grill, and served with roasted potatoes and fresh salads, as well as the homebaked bread. The owners are very friendly, accommodating, and personable. They remembered us each time, and welcomed us back. On recent Sunday nights, they've hosted a band which provided excellent entertainment as well. We would recommend Azafran to everyone!

“Nice little restaurant tucked away in Tulum”
Reviewed November 20, 2011

Had an early lunch year. It was a nice setting outside. Service was good, the setting was nice, and food was delicious.

Some of us had breakfast food and some of us had lunch. Highly recommended. I am not sure if they are open for supper or not.

“Killer Breakfast”
Reviewed August 25, 2011

The aptly named hangover killer is a smorgasbord of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, a dollop of dijon mustard, toast and butter. There are a few baby greens pretending to be a salad with a decent dressing, but really it is all about the instant heart attack represented by the rest of the plate that draw your attention. Fantastic.

I also am very fond of their various fresh open faced bagel sandwiches, particularly the Holland. A simple but delicious topping of fresh tomato, a hint of basil, and gouda cheese.

Apparently they have Erdinger and other German beers available for dinner, so I will have to go back to check out the dinner options.
