“More Gourmet Style Mexican”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We found this llittle place one street over from the main avenun in Tulum on recommendations.
We liked the complementary frist course of breads, cheeses, garlic butter and 4 individual nachos. Dishes ordered were soup and salads and then a vegetarian stuffed pepper, a meat stuffed pepper and then 2 of their rolled chicken dishes. We found the good due to the seasoning and sauces on the chicken. I felt for the price they charge there should have been a little more sliced up chicken and some veggies. I found the peanut mole sauce delicious but the chicken a little over cooked. I would stick to beer here as the drinks were only so-so and not their speciality. If the price would be lower and portions more rounded I would give them 4 stars

“One of the Best”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

We had dinner in Cetli whilst breaking our trip in Tulum on the way back to the Airport at Cancun. Set back a couple of blocks from the main street, the subtle candle lighting and tropical garden ambiance contrasts favourably with the rather more brash establisments on the main drag. Your meal won't be troubled by street artists, clowns or jugglers performing at your table here!

We aren't experts on Mexican cuisine but we can tell when food has been prepared with great care and imagination. The (complimentary) hors d'oeuvres were superb and our Citrus salads were anything but ordinary, with a variety of subtle tastes in an apparently simple dish. We had two chicken-based mains, each with a different mole and these too were lovely. If you want a burger and chips don't go to Cetli but if you want authentic Mexican fine dining I doubt you'll do better in Tulum.

“A cut above”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

This place is a cut above the other restaurants in town. We visited on our last night as it was a little pricier than the other places. That said, it was still well below the price of a meal at an equivalent place in our hometown of London. The ambience is beautiful and coolly romantic, the food is gourmet and high end, lovingly presented with a description of each part of the dish on its arrival. Quality. Treat yourself!

“Best Margahrita”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

Quiet, lots of candles at night, very good cuisine, and possibly the best Margahrita of the trip. This is not tacos and beans - it is inventive, local, and refined.

“Lives up to the reviews”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

We heard good things about Cetli and it lives up to it's hype. Great Mexican food with a lot of creative flair and great taste. The chile en nogada was fabulous - lots of sweet cream sauce and flavorfill filling. The bread/cheeese/spread plate that came gratis before the main course was icing on the cake. Try Cetli for a change from the everyday Mexican fare when in Tulum. You will be glad you did.
