We had dinner in Cetli whilst breaking our trip in Tulum on the way back to the Airport at Cancun. Set back a couple of blocks from the main street, the subtle candle lighting and tropical garden ambiance contrasts favourably with the rather more brash establisments on the main drag. Your meal won't be troubled by street artists, clowns or jugglers performing at your table here!
We aren't experts on Mexican cuisine but we can tell when food has been prepared with great care and imagination. The (complimentary) hors d'oeuvres were superb and our Citrus salads were anything but ordinary, with a variety of subtle tastes in an apparently simple dish. We had two chicken-based mains, each with a different mole and these too were lovely. If you want a burger and chips don't go to Cetli but if you want authentic Mexican fine dining I doubt you'll do better in Tulum.
