I like to swim in any Cenote arround Tulum to refresh and do some relax swiming. And then go and have food at any of Tulums Downtown Goood Restautants.

As in the title: refreshing but not much more. It doesn't have any cave, it's only a lake, but if you're tired of hot beaches it's nice to go there.

This was some of my families favorite cenote. We had already been to some of the beautiful cave type cenotes before this so had that beautiful experience, however this was a fun change since it was totally outdoors. The main fun was jumping off the platform into the water. There were very few people there, and all were very friendly. We got to know the others there who seemed more like locals than the typical tourist spot. It cost 50 Pesos and a young woman appeared to manage it. We parked, walked in and she greeted us. She kept an eye on things and used a strainer to collect moss floating on the edges of the water. There are lots of picnic tables and hanging hammocks so great for a swim and picnic. There are no shallow (standing) spots so not ideal for non swimming kids to "puddle" in. There is a wood platform and steps going into the water, as well as a rope which can be used to go across the water.

If you are driving from Cancun side of 307 you would pass through the main tulum city and it is about 3Km or so past the city area on the right side on 307. There is another Cenote across the street, but it was closed due to some water quality issues.

We visited in November 2011. More like a freshwater lake than a cave. Sunny that day, so visibility was great - lots of catfish lurking in the shadows, and tiny fish darting about. Picnic tables and benches around to leave your stuff on. Careful on the steps, they're slippery with algae (as I found out).

45 pesos gets you access to this and Cenote Escondido across the highway - however Escondido involved a 15-20 min trek through mosquito-ey jungle and it turned out to be completely muddy that day. However it was maybe a bad day to visit as they had locked the gate initially (but let us through when we said we wanted to check it out) - probably dependent on how much rainfall they've had lately.

We biked from our beach resort to the cenotes, took us about 25-30 min one way. Nice bike paths from the beach resort to town, and beyond the town there's a fairly large shoulder on the highway so didn't feel pressured by traffic.

I rated it "average" only because it is a totally open cenote so there is no "cave" aspect to it. Feels a bit lake a small lake. Nice area with tables and seats.
