Take a few minutes to hear what Community Tours is doing and you'll be happy you chose them!

As for the tour itself, we did the Muyil/Lagoon excursion and saw some exquisite ruins, ate delicious food, and sped through breathtaking lagoons before floating down a tranquil canal. Very enjoyable, although a little pricey - but when you think about what it's going towards, it feels better!

I traveled around the Yucatan and Quintana Roo for 2 weeks, visiting amazing Mayan sites, beautiful colonial cities, and beaches. The Community Tour excursion to Muyil in Sian Ka'an, however, was the absolute highlight. The tour, led by the fantastic Manuel, took in not only the Mayan ruins at Muyil, but also explored the amazing fauna and flora. Manuel is a learned and enthusiastic guide--a real font of knowledge, who clearly has a deep love for the ecology of the area. After the visit to Muyil and a lovely fruit snack, we took a boat ride into the lagoons, and then floated down the current of an inlet, weaving through mangroves with great blue herons watching on. I will never forget this extraordinary, dreamlike experience. This tour is not to be missed!

The tour with "Sian Ka'an" tours and with the host named "Alberto Cen Caamal" was excellent and really funny. He told us a lot about the plants at Muyil and also about Maya history. Alberto is an original and he is a Maya. He knows a lot about the communities, what they cook and how they work there. After we went to a little museum, he took us and the other guys from the group for a boat ride. This was so much fun! At the same time he stopped at a few points and explained different birds species to us. After that we had our "float to extasy" :D! The best snorkeling tour i've ever had in my live - i louhged all the time, because it's very funny to float via 4 km/h with the snorkeling equipment in the water and you really can see big and also a lot of little fishes. We also saw a really big grab - big like a plate! During the day we got fruits to snack and after the floating trip a nice lunch meal. Thank you Alberto. Perfect day!

Spent 10 days in Akumal and took two tours - Sunrise birding tour and sunset tour of the lagoons. I have never seen so many birds in such a short time - counted 50 species in a few short hours. Guides were knowledgeable, gracious, and attentive, and knowing that my money was going back into support for the park made the intrusion into such a paradise seem forgiveable. Sian Ka'an should not be missed!

knowledgeable, friendly multilingual guide (fernando) who is very knowledgeable about the plants and birds. we did the "muyil forest and float' tour which takes you through the jungle to some minor ruins, then a fruit snack, then a boat ride on two large lakes in the park.

it sounds corny, but the next part of the tour was to float (using life jackets as boogie board equivalents) down a narrow canal to another lake. and then walk back.

cooling on a hot day, and not as relaxing as it sounds (wince you need to keep your balance). not for the timid, but not scary either. cerainly something you won't forget. and a relativelytasty lunch on the way back (certainly better than i expected)

they will pick you up at your hotel (from cancun to tulum) or you can meet at their tour office in tulum.

this tour group supports good works and education, not just crass commercialism. limited to 12 people per tour (ours only had 8) so it's personal and small scale.
